sry about late reply, was busy with my daughter bday and guests.
texas weather is always above 85,,its very hot !
well, its true that climate has alot of impact on human weight and when it comes to babies, abit more !
and yees, the consumption of food reduces and babies like to drink more than eating,,and in your case, like sapna said, one reason could be she is not gettin enough, but if thats the case, has his weight reduced,,how long you have been in hot weather,,did you recently moved from cold place, if so, then wait a month to get his body used to climate.,if not, then i would like to eliminate the fact that your baby is not getting enough as if so, she must be crying to ask for feeds.
ask your dr if he is ok in giving water or pedialyte to your dd,,sometimes babies need water esp when its peak summer.
as far as solids are concerned, ask your dr what age (4months/6months) is right for your baby when it comes to solids.personally if your baby is not premie or underweight, i would not recommend you to start solids at 4months.also, considering that your baby is gettin enough from your feeds !!!!!!!
go for any standard good brand of rice cereal first, that is available extensively without any efforts everywhere where you are staying or will be planning to travel,,as your baby will be taking this diet almost upto 9months..
at first start with mixing formula or bm with cereal and then introduce vegies and fruits,,and then add in fruits/vegies to cereal and offer,,,
also, about raagi, its good to give as early as 4months,,there is nothing wrong in it,,make sure the qty is not more than 1tsp (not tablespoon),,,go slow as its heavy to digest.
taste the raagi pwder that you have stored past 4months, and if the taste has changed, then throw it / is of no use. dont give anything tht is stored(whether or not in fridge/freezer) more than 2 months to your baby,,,give it fresh, keep it simple and give healthy :),,
texas is a nice indian place, you will easily get raagi flour anywhere in indian store ! go to eknazar dot com for indian grocery listing in your locals.
so good luck and take care.
