I wanted to know if high is useful.I have 6 month old baby and I am confused whether to buy a high chair or not as they sound very expensive.
Also my mother says that when the baby starts crawling or walking she will never sit and eat
always will run.
need suggestions who have already used one.

nisha replied. my first baby was very sweet. liked the highchair from the beginnings,,still eats in that.
my 2nd one, will cry whenever i put him there. once crawling, its hard for us to make them sit at one place. for my 1st baby, there was not much efforts i had to put. when he started walking, i use to put some food on his tray to keep him busy..but alot of mess around the highchair.if i put toys, he will throw them down, i didnt give up and he continued on high chair. my 2nd one repels to it.
what hetal said its true, a big mess to clean when fed on high chair esp if baby is feeding on his own. i have same story to tell about my 2nd baby.
it all depends on babies.
but its always better to own a highchair, there is nothing bad if there is even 1 day when he will like to sit on it and eat.get the booster seat that you can attach to chairs first, c if your baby likes it, if he likes get him a nice high chair..these booster attachable chairs are very cheap, and you can take anywhere you want.
Hetal replied. hi!
about highchair, i owned a very nice..once my dd started crawling nd now running,,she likes to sit underneath it,playing peaakabooo !! hehe.
it all depends on how you make your babies habituate to things...
i feel bad that i didnt give that much imp for my baby to sit on high chair and eat like a good mannered girl. also i found she enjoyed eating while running around :) and she ate well that way.she will take a bite, go and touch the window and come back for another one ! its a playtime for her.
so i wouldnt advice you to go by my way, but instead its better that babies learn table manners and it all starts from high chair.
i have seen friends on mine struggling to make their babies eat on high chair or if they succeed to make them eat well, they end up having a big mess on the highchair and below it,,
also on high chair you will have to give baby some finger food and he will definately enjoy making a real mess...another work,,to clean it !
i am lazy in that so i didnt do that...i didnt try much, frankly sayingg..
but i am happy that when we go out to dine, my baby sits nicely, she watches everyone how they eat, behave on table and when i give her little baby fork and spoon, she eats with a little mess ! sometimes ofcourse things go crazy, tablecloth and plates are down the table !!! but thats all when she is really mad and desperate to run around the restaurant.
so i guess its all upto you and your babies,,as to how you habituate them
listen to ur baby interest and enjoy, also when it comes to listening to mothers,,you should do that first :))
take care
Good Luck
