My 20 year old daughter is going to jail for 2 months. We are aware of this "strip search" procedure, but she really does not want to get naked and show her private parts to strangers. If your daughter refuses or resists it will be four women. All of them will be well-trained in restraint and control. Your daughter should curb any tendencies towards drama. Nobody will be even remotely interested. Your daughter could tell the guards that she is worried about this. She can ask that she not be completely naked to do this. If your daughter is polite and reasonable, they can search her a bit at a time while partly covered, if they have time. Guards must guarantee that she is not bringing contraband into jail with her. They must be thorough enough in the search to know this. They will know from the file if she is entering jail on a drug problem. If so, the search will be quite invasive, but quick enough. The key is to treat guards and staff with courtesy and respect. Trying to find a way to circumvent the safety rules in jail is questionable parenting. You and your daughter should not be looking for special treatment. The laws and the procedures in jail apply to everyone ? even your daughter. She will be housed with adults, not youths. She needs to abandon the idea that she is special before going through those doors.
