Bowel and Bladder Movements:Cloth diapers...few q's

Hello,

I have few queries about using cloth diapers. I hope you can help me. I used cloth diapers periodically for my son who is toilet trained. But I would like to use them on a fulltime basis for my soon to be born child. I live in US and plan to buy the cloth diapers from online sources.

- Can anyone recommend a good brand for the All-in-Two diapers? Based on what I've read I think I would prefer the AI2 instead of All-in-One.

- Do the babies really stay warm in winter while wearing cloth diapers with the plasti covers? I paused cloth diapers in winter with my son since I felt he was getting too cold.

- Do most people put the cloth diapers in a dry bucket with baking soda while waiting to wash them? Is there some reason soaking them in water would be better?

- As of now I am a stay-at-home mom? But if I have to put the new baby in some sort of daycare situation, is there any type of cloth diaper which will be easier for a daycare personnel to use? Any working moms who can share their tips?

I thank you in advance. With kind regards, Tej

I put the diapers in a dry bucket with baking soda till washing day and wash with 1 table spoon of detergent not more to avaoid build up .
Also they can stay warm in winter with cloth diaper
Some day cares will accept cloth diaper ( generally more luck with Home dat cares) you should use pocket or all in ones so its convient for them.

Good luck

As far as I know due to hygeine reason for the other kids and messy situation, Day cares will not allow your to use cloth diapers.

Hi Tej,

I can't answer all your questions, but I can address some. Yes, with a good cloth diapering system, which most are these days, babies stay warm in winter. The key is the cover. My dd stayed dry and warm in cold NE March with prefold diapers and a cover. As for dry bucket or wet, I think it is a matter of personal choice. I had hot water wash in the US and the dry bucket and baking soda worked fine. In India I have cold water wash and feel a presoak is worthwhile so I use a wet bucket. I can't recommend a brand of AI2s as I use prefolds, but as I recall, the diaper pin site has mother reviews of just about every brand and product of diaper out there (www(dot)diaperpin(dot)com. That may be a good place for you to get reviews. Lastly as for daycares, some don't allow cloth at all. It really depends on the daycare. If you know which day care you would use, you might want to call and ask them now, otherwise you'll probably just have to cross that bridge when you come to it. I am about to head back to the US for several months and am prepared to have dd in disposables if she goes to daycare with cloth at home :(. Maybe I will find a daycare that will accept the cloth though, I hope so. Hope someone else will fill in the gaps I have left. Best of luck. Rebecca

RE:bowel movement in 2 week old infant
Some babies go through phases when they either can't use the muscles to empty their bowels or they "forget how to". In that case, it's safest keep using the suppositories daily to make them do a dirty in 5 minutes.... - Su 03 [View Message]
RE:where can I get laxative?
You can get either glycerin or bisacodyl suppositories in any Indian pharmacy - I recommend saving money by not buying child-size ones, instead cutting adult supps in half to make a child-size dosage.
(I have a daughter with long-term bowel issues: she can't "do" without them!)... - Su 03 [View Message]
RE:constipation
When the baby is in discomfort from constipation (especially if she hasn't done some dirty for two days or more), the first thing you should give is a glycerin suppository.... - Su 03 [View Message]
RE:hi
Most doctors say banana doesn't help - the potassium in it makes constipation worse. Remember you can make your own prune puree in a blender. Grape, grapefruit and papaya are also laxative fruits. And remember you can safely use baby suppositories as often as you need to (they also help with "training" the baby to do a dirty at the same time every day)... - Su 03 [View Message]
RE:Baby Movements/Development
Consult a good doctor immediately as this should not be ignored as it will cause a big issue if you let it go now, please seek doctors advice on immediate basis.... - Aditi [View Message]

Hi Karthik this is a serious issue and you should look into this matter very seriously as its concern with your own child and you cannot let things go, have a good consulting done by a good doctor.... - Amaira [View Message]
