Role of in-laws:why does she compare....?

My MIL is an expert in mocking at people. She just throws indirect words thinking what a wise job she has done. And moreover she compares everybody else' s kids with my kid or vice versa....If my kid doesn' t eat properly she says somebody somebody' s kid eats double to what my kid eats. And mocks at him ' you don' t have enough strength to lift small things' .I get so irritated. My kid had delayed speech and this again is a topic for her,and she goes on in b/w conversations,' her daughter speaks like a grown up,she learnt it when she was as young as 2yrs.' It really hurts me.
My child till recently suffered mild autism(which now he has come out),for that she said ' let' s not think of marrying kids inside our family ,can' t say who becomes what when they grow up' (as she doesn' t even understand what autism means)(but that' s sure a relief to me as I was not keen about it from the beginning.)But I' m really sick of her way of treating not even sparing kids. She' s a total mess coz she always messes when she' s around.
I think MILS are like that.Thay never appreciate their dils for their patience and insight but are always ready to mock and compare them with others who are not even a matter of concern to us.

I am in same boat as yours.. used to feel bad about her harsh words for my son who' s having a genetic disorder.. and then my husband told me you love him and I really love him.. then why do u get bothered about others. All wont love him.. all dont love you or me who are normal.
Also the doc told me take that critcism as positive & be happy if your child is able to out perform that comparison. Even if he cant match up love him for whatever he' s irrespective of what others say.
We feel bad as long we consider them as family & related.. pls distance yourself with this feeling.. she' s just related to your husband.. and that will bring some relief.

What your husband said is really true.We definitely don´ t need to worry if others love our kids or not.We indeed know how much we love them and infact should offer our 100% .If there is any one person who loves the kids selflessly ,its only the mother. The only thing that matters is to see them above everyone and everything.B´ coz Even if we try to consider everyone as family ,MILS never consider DILS as a family. So why care.
And Thanks for your pleasing advice.I´ ll keep that in mind.

How to deal with this?
I feel that my husbands parents are using their son. My husband is from India and I am from the USA. He obtained his greencard and citizenship through me after coming here. He is a physician and obtained his residency training. I worked to earn for our family for two years until he got his job. Then he applied for his parents to visit us on a visiting visa. We were both wo... - Tina Shah [View Message]
RE:self centered inlaws
I agree they have completely double standards as I recently found out. I saw my husbands childhood photos when he was young. His parents claim they sacrificed everything for their kids and lived poor and behave like martyr parents. Got treated as free domestic servant. But the photos showed them dressed like Bollywood stars with watches and jewellery enjoying their life. O... - Tina [View Message]

RE:Mother-in-law spoiling my child
hello kajal,
if you are rudely talking with her, then this is not way to talking with your mother in law, you tell her in polite way, your son is her grand son, so she never think about his bad effects.... - ruchita [View Message]
RE:Mother-in-law spoiling my child
hello kajal,
stop your negative thinking towards your mother in law, she is your son grand mother too, so if she gave some sweet like sugar to him its just because of her love towards him.... - reshma [View Message]
