Do you have trouble coping with your in-laws? What have you done to reduce the tension between you and your in-laws? Is your partner supportive?

There had been some problem with my in laws recently due to some property dispute so there was much tension between us. In order to reduce the tension, we separated our kitchen. Earlier we used to cook and eat at the same place but after this issue we have separated our kitchen. We cook separately but eat together. this has brought back the happy times.

I think you have taken the right decision. We live in a joint family. We are 4 daughter in laws so there were some tension between us. My mother in law was smart enough to gauge the tension, so she asked us to separate our kitchens so that the tension is little bit reduced. Now though we all cook separately, we ensure to have at least one meal together.

I do not get along with my in laws. Its not that I didn' t try but I gave my full support and tried my best to please them but still they seem to find some fault in me. However much I tried but I just could not keep them satisfied. Sometimes I feel that things have not changed much in India especially with regards to daughter in law. I do not know how to deal with the situation.

He is a physician and obtained his residency training. I worked to earn for our family for two years until he got his job. Then he applied for his parents to visit us on a visiting visa. RE:self centered inlaws
I agree they have completely double standards as I recently found out. I saw my husbands childhood photos when he was young. His parents claim they sacrificed everything for their kids and lived poor and behave like martyr parents. Got treated as free domestic servant. But the photos showed them dressed like Bollywood stars with watches and jewellery enjoying their life. O... - Tina [View Message]

RE:Mother-in-law spoiling my child
hello kajal,
if you are rudely talking with her, then this is not way to talking with your mother in law, you tell her in polite way, your son is her grand son, so she never think about his bad effects.... - ruchita [View Message]
RE:Mother-in-law spoiling my child
hello kajal,
stop your negative thinking towards your mother in law, she is your son grand mother too, so if she gave some sweet like sugar to him its just because of her love towards him.... - reshma [View Message]
