this may be very silly, but i just wanted to clear my mind up regarding this.it has been bothering me since a long time, so thought i' ll get some help here.
my daughter' s due date was jan 30th, but she was born on jan 13th. my birthday is June 13th. my childhood was very bad.my mom passed away when i was 5yrs old due to breast cancer.then my dad remarried & my stepmom never liked me.i went through an emotional abuse all my childhood.overall my 1st part of life was very sad & trumatic until i got married.after marriage things started getting better & i' m so much in love with my husband & more than anything i have this most beautiful gift\" my daughter\" now.
but somehow i had this at the back of my mind that may be all this happened since i was born on 13th.our family never believes in all these things.i only heard it from my friends in school that 13 is an unlucky number & from then on i started believing it.when my due date was given as jan 30th i was so relieved that i' m far away from 13th, but to my disbelief my baby was born 3 weeks early & exactly on 13th date of all.
my husband says that nothing like that exists & we just need to have God' s blessings to have a good life, but i' m somehow paranoid about this. i dont want my daughter to suffer like me.this thing was killing me inside.i didnt know whom to talk to. so i thought this is the best place to get some opinions on this as people here are very helpful & give their honest opinions.
is 13th really an unlucky number? i dont know whats the myth behind this?? none of our family members believe in this & they dont even know about it.
please help me.have you come across anyone born on 13th & has a happy & successful life? i know i shouldnt be thinking like this, hope you all understand my feelings.i just want the best for my baby, so i' m getting paranoid about it.please help.i really want to know about this.
thanks in advance for all your inputs.

Ga replied. First of all, i just want to say, i am sorry to learn about your mother and having breast cancer. Just remember one thing, she did not die because of you. Well, you know, my cousin was also born on Jan.13. and you know what? she is so pretty! she is indian like me but she is very white. everything in her life is going good, she has a good job! she has her family by her side, and she got married to a man that loves her very much! believing that the number 13 is unlucky is just a silly superstitions of these indians.

my co sister in law' s b day is 13 july she had a wonderful childhood and is enjoying a happy marrried life, she has two kids they are doing fine too.
vv replied. Dear Saanvi.. i am not going to say anything that Ritika or Relax did not say. all i wanted to say is, my friend born on March 13th is doing just great too - married to a lovable hubb, with 2.5 years old daughter, working & earning well, she was very good as a student too. you shd be fortunate to hv got a good husband and family. leave aside all the superstitions and be happy. Being a mother of a girl child, she would try to take u as her role model and try to take after ur characteristics. so its important for mothers to display confidence, strength and rationale to their daughters so that they can hv a peaceful future in this competitive world - this is an advice my hubb keeps giving me often (whether or not i follow it) - but its important to try and follow this. Relax and be happy ! everything else will fall in place.
Ritika replied. Dear Saanvi,
Please rest easy...and don' t be so worried...your daughter is so lucky to have such nice and loving parents...and I' m sure will grow up to have a wonderful life...Don' t ever let your daughter think that you consider 13th to be an unlucky number.
A friend of mine was born on September 13th. He has been really lucky all his life and has had a great life so far...is happily married to a woman he loves and has a 2 year old kid also...is a manager in a reputed company.
A lot of people in fact consider 13th to be lucky for them...I was recently reading about a movie producer who tries to release his movies on the 13th of a month...
Also an interesting titbit -\" In Sikhism, the number 13 is considered a special number since 13 is tera in Punjabi, which also means \" yours\" (as in, \" I am yours, O Lord\" ). The legend goes that when Guru Nanak Dev was taking stock of items as part of his employment with a village merchant, he counted from 1 to 13 (in Punjabi) as one does normally and thereafter he would just repeat \" tera\" , since all items were God' s creation. The merchant confronted Guru Nanak about this, but found everything to be in order after the inventory was checked. April 13 also usually turns out to be Vaisakhi every year, which is the Sikh New Year and the major Sikh Holiday.\"
So please do not feel bad about your daughter' s and yours birthday. The abuse you suffered was because of a bad woman. Not because of a number.
I hope you have a wonderful life ahead of you and may each day be happier than the previous one...
take care,
Ritika
Relax replied. Dont be silly...just relax. there' s nothing like tht...all these r mere superstitions n utter nonsense. consider number 13 as any other number n dont worry. whtever happened with u was destiny. have faith in god n stop being so superstitious instead of thinking all this nonsense n disturbing ur peace of mind and ur family' s as well. the more u think negative, more it will disturb u and make ur life go haywire. Think positive n be optimistic.

I feel that my husbands parents are using their son. My husband is from India and I am from the USA. He obtained his greencard and citizenship through me after coming here. I agree they have completely double standards as I recently found out. I saw my husbands childhood photos when he was young. His parents claim they sacrificed everything for their kids and lived poor and behave like martyr parents. Got treated as free domestic servant. But the photos showed them dressed like Bollywood stars with watches and jewellery enjoying their life. O... - Tina [View Message]
