My 7 year old doeas not like to write as muchas she LOVES to read..exactly opposite to her best friend who avoids reading adn scribbles away words after words..so it is anindividual..but when it comes to aquiring a skill every child will WRITE to perfaction.Still i encourage my daughter about writing ..I got her a diary to write poems and since then she has churned out a couple of them, all by herself and in neat handwriting.
Play creat a crossword game..write with her..let her write the grocery list..do not correct her at every word..let her write down what she wants to do on weekend.Talk about her handwriting and praise her writing in presence of her idol igures.Father, friends, teacher, grandparents etc.Kids like to be praised and applauded for their efforts.Brings her some puzzle books which need fill in the blanks. It will take some time but she will start liking the writing part.Introduce her to caligraphy.Kids who love to draw..they like this art of writing letters in different way.
At age 5 she is still too young to understand the importance of learning a skill.but nevertheless give her a pencil and paper and let her do her own writing, even if it is a scribbling. She will write..with pleasure,.... soon.

Children tend to shy away from writing. They have to be just taken into confidence and writing should be associated with fun. So, just try to see ways in which some fun and games are associated with the writing process. And of course the school lessons will also take care.

It takes time for some children to concentrate on writing skills. Your child is one in that category. But that is no matter of great concern. Therefore, do not take too much tension.

Some children cannot manage to write in the initial years. So, it is good not to push them too much. That is not a matter on which you should lose your sleep.

Delay in writing skills is nothing to be worried about. It is just a matter of few more months. You should not compare your child with other children.
