The syllabus prepared by CBSE is more suitable for qualifying in various entrance examinations, including the medical and engineering professional exams. The syllabus of ICSE is more detailed and requires the student to remember a lot.

Hi Anjali,
Generally CBSE would be some high standard syllabus only. And children must not be brushed forcefully on that.So parents take it as responsibility.

Hi Anjali,
Before taking any decision regarding your children you need to think that does your kid can be capable of doing it or not.Because they have to lead all those things.

Hi Anjali,
As a parent you had right to know the difference between the boards. There will be slight changes because one is central and other is international based on that only standards would be there.

Hey Anjali,

I did my schooling from CBSE. I had friends who were from ICSE. As per my experience, ICSE had way too many subjects which can go both ways for a kid, good or bad. Extra efforts may deviate him from his core interest or having studied all the subjects may help him keep his mind open to every field. But one thing i noticed about the ICSE kids was that they had a basic knowledge of every subject.
All the best!

Hello Anjali,
There were many schools which follow ICSE and CBSE but both are good syllabus only and you need to know that based on the price the education system would be there and all will meet at one point after education is completed.

Can someone help me decipher the difference between CBSE and ICSE ? Some say ICSE is tougher and more theoritical. Is it a good idea to change in class 9th ? I have recently moved to Mumbai from Hyd and am looking for school admission for my son who is in class 8 now. Mumbai seems to have very few CBSe schools.
Will appreciate any feedback on this. Thanks

There is also a third choice - state board. But today parents like us are thinking o central board... a step ahead ICSE.I purely feel my kid should get an admissionin a CBSE- as yes told above .. comparatively less tougher than ICSE but more tough than a state board. And so they can get time to other activites like sports.. music ..elocution etc... anything..
Think.. and give ur best to ur kid.
