Please help..Iam working in an MNC and earning well..I got married last year and it was a love marriage. My husband is a doctor. At the time of our marriage he just completed his MBBS and after that preparing for his PG. but unfortunately he was not got selected, so he dropped one year to study at home. I live in joint family with mother and father in laws. My mother in law is bed ridden and totally paralysed my father in law used to take care of her. although he is an advocate but cant give much time to his practice. So situation was just hand to mouth kind. I supported the whole family. My mother in law is a very big devotee of a guru and used to pray for 10 12 hrs daily..
she used to send donation to the organization. Actually earlier before falling ill she was a teacher so now she is getting pension on medical grounds, she used to donate whole of her pansion and also donated all of her jwellary and also whatever my father in law earns she donate that also and as my husband is not earning anything, i have to support whole family and becoz she is ill i have to take care of house also..if i discuss this with my husband he used to get dipressed as he has not yet got a seat in PG. Now again this year he wants to study and take a cahnce and i also want him to try again..so i cant save even a single penny..my in laws are so extravagent that both dont know the value of money and used to spend a lot..she used to give a lot of money to relatives and all....in fact in case of certain emergency, they dont have any saving so they have to ask others for money but this i cant do...
iam not able to find the way to solve it and neither i want to discuss this with my husband......please help..

Your husband' s family may be not be evil. They may also be traditional and old-fashioned, but they definitely do not understand money-matters. You, on the other hand, are stuck between a rock and a hard place. My best advice is for you to be patient with your husband. He is your best bet for your financial future to get better. He needs peace at home to study and he needs your assistance. His parents are not supposed to help financially. You both are tolerating this joint family. So, let him pass this exam. If he fails, then he will think of some other career. He is not dumb after all. He is a doctor.
Give it some time.

Hi,
First of all i advice you to be practical in your thinking..if you cant talk to your inlaws regarding this issue they will not be able to understand your financial crisis..From your words i guess that your in laws at very kind hearted..Imagine what would you have done if your brother or sister were in this situation ??Without second thought you would approach your parents right...Help your husband to get through his exams..dont give him any kind of tention..You try to solve this situtation with your inlaws..

How to deal with this?
I feel that my husbands parents are using their son. My husband is from India and I am from the USA. He obtained his greencard and citizenship through me after coming here. He is a physician and obtained his residency training. I worked to earn for our family for two years until he got his job. Then he applied for his parents to visit us on a visiting visa. RE:self centered inlaws
I agree they have completely double standards as I recently found out. I saw my husbands childhood photos when he was young. His parents claim they sacrificed everything for their kids and lived poor and behave like martyr parents. Got treated as free domestic servant. But the photos showed them dressed like Bollywood stars with watches and jewellery enjoying their life. O... - Tina [View Message]

hello kajal,
if you are rudely talking with her, then this is not way to talking with your mother in law, you tell her in polite way, your son is her grand son, so she never think about his bad effects.... - ruchita [View Message]
