well my son is 7 1/2 months and i have started on food s for him only on doc's advise. Once the baby has crossed six months we can give him upma, dosa, idli, chapati(soft and made inghee, dipped in milk if necessary) for breakfast. For lunch and dinner it could be rice and ghee with salt made soft, mashed veg like carrot and potato, rice with little rasam/dal and ghee. The doc says it will take about 2 mths for the baby to adjust to the new food habits...and in between this the baby will spit , turn off the face, appear totall disinterested and all sorts of things. U can also try shira i.e. roasted rava cooked with ghee and sugar/jaggery. Also product called Vitality from brawn India whish is a good weaning food. I guess \";variety\"; in food will be a good solution

Hi Hamsa,

If you want to start feeding him rice you can do that. For the starters, add 1 spoon rice, half a spoon moong dal and also you can add a small piece of carrot and pressure cook them.If you want you can add a little bit of ghee, mash it and feed him.Try this for atleast one week while keeping an eye on how he is taking it(means any allergies,is he able to digest),then you can gradually increase the quantity. You can use variety of vegetables like potato, beans, tomato, cauliflower etc.You can also feed him upma, idle, pongal since they are easily digestable and have less oil in them.
All the best

Hi Hamsa,
If u haven't yet started giving him solids then u can slowly start giving him moong dal water add little salt & hing. Start with few spoon gradually increase . Once he is use to it u can start with vegetables, steamed apples, mash banana, khichari.I suggest don't start jucie as he fill full & will not eat his solids.
I hope it helps you.
