Name: worried mom



Hi, my 16 month's old fontanelle has not yet closed there is a 2cm dia gap still in her skull the doc says that she is calcium deficient, and to give her supplements, what food can I feed her, plz reply I am really worried as I have heard that i should have closed by now!!!!
PS: she is underweight and fusses to eat too...

Thanks, I am giving her lots of milk and egg too, hope it helps, and yes 18 months is the time. Some docs say I should not be so worried

I remember reading that it can take upto 18 months for the fontanelle to close. I wish I can remember the book. Ragi is a great source of calcium.

I think milk can help[ increase her calcium level. if not milk, milk products like curd, cheese, paneer . try all these. u can give her fruits even. give her egg atleat twice or thrice a week.
