My 16-month old boy is refusing to eat. He had ear and throat infection and was put on antibiotics. Since then he is refusing to eat and puts out his food. I am really worried abt him. I m notsure if this has become a habit or loss of apetite. He was an average eater earlier. This is making me worry. Anybody with suggestions or advice please help. Thanx.

Do not worry!! I'm sure its just a passing phase. My daughter was sick for last 3 weeks with the same symptoms as your baby. She has always been a light eater and weighs just 17 lbs for a 15 month old. She was refusing all food even after getting better. She consumes atmost 8 oz of milk per day along with some solid food. Even after she got better she was still refusing the milk. But I did not force. And just like that from yesterday she is drinking her usual. The last time she was sick, she did the same. But then I was trying to force feed her and she started getting averted towards food. This time I did not force feed her and she is getting back her interest in food much quicker. She even ate cheese today which she never does. So I think the trick is to give them some time and encourage them to eat more patiently.

Since your little boy can still remember the taste of anti-biotics, he might be refusing his food..He might be associating the taste of medicine with his food..Give him little food to try..let him feel the taste..Give him the food which he likes the most(salty or sweet stuffs)..It might take a while for them to come out of sickness but please don't give up easily..Give him kheer or hot kichdi.. most babies like it

Thanx it really made me feel better. Actually, I was trying to force food. Now, I give him food he likes. I have stopped forcing him. I think he is getting better. I m just praying that it should not become a habitwith him.
