2003-07-22

my daughter 2 1/2 does not say good morning or sorry if she supposed to say. If I tell her nicely she listens but does not repeat and if i say sternly she starts crying loudly and want her father to take her.
Her playschool teacher is insisting that she should learn to wish.
Pls. help

hello,
I suggest you carefully encourage your child to say the nice things like Thank you and good morning.

Maybe you could get a toy of hers and hand it to her and ask that she says Thank you, give her a small reward or just a hug would be sufficient.

Everymorning upon her waking, go to her and say \";Good Morning\"; and encourage her to say it back.

I think eventually, if you make it really fun, she will want to repeat.

Children at this age are very much wanting to do things at their own time,
just continue what you're doing and she will follow your lead.

Good luck

Thanks for your reply. I say good morning every day even my husband but she does not reply. I say sorry to her if I drop something to show her but when she is supposed to do so, she is very reluctant. I observed her carefully, she shows an expression of offence. Why is she feeling that to wish is offending? I tell my husband good morning and so does he but she has not started saying so.
She also does not mix with anyone. If I take her to the park she will play on the slide when it is not being played by any other child. If any child comes to play when she is playing she switches over to another eg. swing etc.
Now 8 months have passed for her being in playschool, but her teachers keep saying she is very delicate, too feminine always avoids playing with others bcoz she is scared someone will bump on her. How to remove this scaredness.
Thanks
