Developmental Concerns:15 months girl, not ready to stand up and walk
2009-02-25
Name: Ajay T

This is about my 15 months daughter. She is very active and playful but not yet ready to stand up and start walking on her own. Tis is worrying me as I see few other babies start walking from the age of 11-12 months. Plz help with some remedies/exercises that will remove the fear from my daughter' s mind to stand up and walk.

Have u done oil message of your baby. If not, start now. Give your girl atleast 10 mins of message with a good oil, like Olive oil or dabur lal tail. It should strengthen her bones and muscles.

Hi Ajay,
My daughter learnt to roll onto her tummy in her 10-11th month, that too we had to undergo 10 physiotherapy sessions for her, prior to her learning to turn on her tummy. Her pediatrician felt her muscles at her back and hands were not strong enough. While all the while she could sit from the time she was 5 months. As she did not turn over, her crawling stage and learning to sit on her own were skipped. To simulate her we were adviced to keep attractive toys a little above her visual level, for which she would try to stand, once she learnt to stand with support she tried to move with support. She took her first few steps on her own when she was 15months and 4 days old...i guess you speak to your pediatrician he would know whats best. One thing which i was adviced against for my daughter was to get her the walker (circular one) i was asked to get the pushing one. While my older son i had used the ciruclar one :-)

kids fitness through play and games
since i have been training young kids for motor skills and fun fitness for a while i see that kids develop most of their sports movements then and as early as 4 years. parents need to be aware that forcing kids into sports at a very early age will not get them far, as they end up losing interest quickly. ... - Sunny Singh [View Message]
