Eating Problems:Problem liking milk
2008-08-12
Name: Akanksha

Hi,my son of 2.5 years of age, is creating a lot of fuss drinking milk twice a day. Every day i end up forcing milk on him. I hate to do this and would want him to willingly drink milk, as there is no replacement for the same. Pls suggest some ideas and help.

Hi Akanksha,
That' s very true.As a mother we should never give up,since kids take it as ranted what they want.Yes try these methods and see how it works, it will be tough if you a working mother like me but can' t help sometimes , we need lot of patience still they grow up.Try also milkshakes like banana, apple, chikoo etc.
Regards
Krithika

Hi Akanksha,
Yes there is no replacement for milk, but sometimes some kids do get bored having flavoured milk,Why dont you try giving milkshakes, like banana, chikoo, dont use chilled milk. This way milk and fruit both will be taken. Also try with chocos , kellogs with milk. I tried for my son , previously he never used to touch it, now he' s liking it.It will keep their tummy also filled for sometime. Use lukewarm milk with little sugar added to kellogs and chocos.Try it .

Akanksha - Are you giving him plain milk? I am sure you would have tried other options as well.. if you haven' t, you can try mixing milk with bournvita or some chocolate drink or badam mix. I had difficult problem with my daughter in making her accept milk - i am now giving it with bournvita and very little sugar and she seems to have accepted the 2 glasses of milk every day a routine. Try some bribes.. as you say, there is no substitute to milk.

Hi, thanks for ur suggestion. I have been giving him flavoured milk only, sometimes bournvita, chocolate syrup, strawberry n many other things. But, now i guess he is got bored of all the tastes n refuses to take milk. I am tryin to force one glass a day and substitute the rest by curd....but, its still a problem for me.
