Harsha replied. Hi Tony,
Formula milk will be better to give for kids when they are in age of five and if not it would be better to give milk which are available in packet.
Urmila replied. Hi tony,
So it would be better that formula milk must be given to kids when they are in the age of four plus and if there is no option of breast milk you must chose an option of formula milk only.
Barun replied. Hi Tony,
Bottle feed that tot formula milk is not so good for baby.Because you do not any have other option know so what can you do for that and god must help him.
Tanu replied. Hi Tony,
In olden days parent would not fed their babies with formula milk at least milk which got obtained from animals also.Mothers milk is so healthy and good for child.
Tina replied. Hi Tony,
Nothing would happen to baby. What would you do if you are not able to breast feed to baby.It would be better yo give milk which is not toned and it would be better you give pure milk.
kajal replied. Hi Tony,
Bottle feeding is not so bad also what would you do if you do not have any option to feed also.If you have any doubts you can clarify it from the doctor. There is no chance of raising any doubts.
Megha replied. Hi Tony,
So can you say what would be the better option for your problem because many people would feed the baby with that only and i wish you would do that and can you say what would you have done and possible share also.
Elia replied. Hi Tony,
So it is difficult for the baby to have bottle feed also and then you would think about that once again because some kids would refuse to feed from the bottle also.I wish you would revert back also.
Harini replied. Hi Tony,
So you need to think about that because you have to take care that it is good or not can you say because you just think about that also i wish you can consult to the doctor and then you decide what to do or not that would be better.
Swetha replied. Hello Tony,
You need to be careful that your baby is so small and every thing must be very clear also then only your baby will be fine and healthy also.SO it would be better you consult to the doctor.
Jasmine replied. Hello tony,
Am sorry for your situation but you need to consult to the doctor then only your problem will be solved also.I wish your baby will be fine and healthy. And i think you can get the breast milk of mothers from the milk banks and it would help you.
tony replied. hi Mel
as i am bottlefeeding my baby i just wanted to know that after sterilising the bottles, caps, teats in a pan of boiling water, should the bottles be kept in the pan of boiled water till the next feed or should it be removed dried and kept in another clean container.some people say that if kept in the boiled water the teats get spoilt soon whereas some others say that the risk of contamination is high if it is removed and kept out.pls advise.i am using the boiling method for sterilisation.
Mel replied. Is your baby constipated ? If he isn' t, then please forget the ajwain, jeera, raisins and water. Water can be given when you start solids (between 4-6 months). Before that, don' t bother. There is no rule that Lactogen can be only given after a gap of 3 hours. My son used to consume very small quantities at a time, and quite frequently. He has always been on Lactogen, but was never ever constipated. All babies are different. So, while some may get constipated with Lactogen, it' s not mandatory. And if your son is NOT constipated, then please don' t give such a young child water. If he is constipated, then 10 - 15 ml of lukewarm water, 3 - 4 times a day should do.
Sujata replied. Hi..even i had the same problem. i could feed my daughter only for abt 15 days. then she was on lactogen. i used to cry as i was not able to feed my daughter. but then i thought i cant let the baby go hungey. my daughter has completed 5 months and is having few other liquids. u can give her water boiled with raisins , ajwain and jeera as lactogen can cause constipation. also sometimes they may feel hungey witin 3 hrs. with formula u can feed the baby only after a min gap of 3 hrs. so keep this water handy. it will help u to relieve her of constipation...
Mel replied. Because some mothers do not want to breastfeed owing to concerns about their figure, we are bombarded with information about how breastfeeding should not be compromised. Everytime we read it, we feel guilty, even if not breastfeeding is NOT out of choice.
What I' m trying to say is that sometimes BF doesn' t take place because of medical problems. In such a case, don' t beat yourself up about it. The benefit of BF is that a mother passes on immunity to her child (for all the diseases that she has gone through in her life). But, as a child grows older, he develops similar immunity through experiences. A breastfed child can still get an upset tummy, a cold, a flu, everything despite being breastfed. And a formula fed baby can be resistant to all this if his diet and care is good.
Your baby' s development will be absolutely fine with bottle feeding. Breastfed babies are equally susceptible to dental caries as bottle fed infants. He will not be deprived of nutrition.
Just ensure that he has 24 - 32 oz of formula a day, (He may have a little less or a little more, that' s ok).
Stop feeding him as soon as he pushes the bottle away.
Don' t force him to finish the bottle.
Thoroughly clean and sterilize all bottles, caps, rings and teats after every use. (Do this until the 9th month, after which, washing in very hot, soapy water should be enough).
Make fresh bottles each time. Discard any unused feed as bacteria spreads in it. Don' t ever offer the leftover bottle.
You can bottle feed till about 13 - 14 months. Or a few months longer. But, by age 18 months - 2 years, he should be off the bottle completely.
Start cereals and solids after completion of the 5th month.
Do not be depressed. Your baby will develop absolutely fine and healthy on Lactogen. Just take good care of him, be happy around him and he will be absolutely fine.

You can keep the bottles, rings and caps in the pan of water, but please remove the teats and allow to dry. You get pacifier cradles (snug sealed containers for putting baby´ s pacifiers). You can use that to store teats if you want. But, teats get destroyed if you put them in boiling water for more than 10 minutes. Once sterilised remove with a pair of tongs and allow to dry, then put in the cradle.

Hello Mel,
I loved the care u show towards others. Even i have a baby who is 16 weeks now. I could BF him till he was 14 weeks along with lactogen. Now he is only on lactogen.I have suffered a hell due to the guilt of not being able to breastfeed my baby completely or for long. But when i started to read abt the same problems faced by many other monthers, i could forgive myself and started to care for my baby happily and spend much time with him, which i was not able to do before because of depression. Its worthy to stop worrying and spend time with the little one...he needs much more than the milk that we give.
And Mel, as my started to be fed only on lactogen, say from a week or so...he has started to constipate. before he never had any problem, when he was given lacto with breast milk. I was much worried initially and started to give him mosambi juice with little sugar diluted with water, it does help, but only for once or twice. again he starts to constipate. and everytime he is fed he poops a little. why is it like that? and once or twice a day he poops more. Can i increase the frequency of mosambi juice? and lukewarm water for 3 4 times a day? i guess that would help. And are u sure i can start him with fruits like banana, and orange (as solids). Please let me know if this would solve his problem and within how many days would he feel better??
Thank u for ur patience!
