Mel replied. You' re very welcome.
If she likes TV, then that would be the best medium for teaching her rhymes, the alphabet, numbers, etc.
But, at this age, ensure that she doesn' t watch more than an hour of TV a day. And when she does watch, make sure that the programmes are meant for her (educational, cartoons, etc.) But, at the same time, get her used to books. My son loves the telly, so we try to get him used to books too.
Just designate a time of day, morning or evening, and play 2 - 3 CDs with rhymes / alphabet / numbers.
I' ve put up posters in my son' s day room, with the alphabet, numbers, animals, etc. So, we just point and read out once a day... A for Apple. They may or may not get it right. Just let the experience be fun. Don' t pressure her.
Mel replied. It' s more likely that your child is asserting her independence rather than getting bored with your cooking. :)
It' s very common at this age. That' s why they refuse to eat. Still, you can make some changes in her diet. Breakfast is fine. You could offer her toast + butter / cream cheese for a change. For lunch, instead of the standard veggies with rice, try giving her curd rice / veg pulao / khichdi. Mid afternoon, try potato wedges, try grilled cheese sandwiches. But, remove the edges, and once the sandwich is grilled, cut it up into bite sized pieces. Offer with tomato sauce. You don' t mention fruits or fruit juice anywhere. You can give her a few slices of fruit (or a cup of fruit juice) for breakfast, or with her evening snack.
Potty training starts when the child is between 18 - 24 months. There is an article on this site about potty training. Or you could just google for it. But, remember 2 things. Let her guide you. Don' t force her to sit when she doesn' t want to. And second, if she sits and does not do anything in the potty, that' s fine. Praise and reassure her so that the potty experience is a positive one.
About breastfeeding... offer her a cup with about 1 - 2 oz of cow' s milk. If she drinks it readily, your problem is solved. If not, express your breastmilk and offer it to her in a glass. She may refuse, or may drink a few sips. That' s fine. Keep offering her all liquids in a glass. So, she gets used to the glass. Slowly, get her to drink more and more from the glass.
Then, offer her 4 oz BM mixed with 1 oz of cow' s milk. Do this for a week. The second week, offer 4 oz BM to 2 oz Cow' s milk... and so on. Gradually reduce the BM and increase the cow' s milk. I know it' s hard, but persevere.
