Hi,
I have been breastfeeding my child since last 7 months. She is now 7 months old.I want to desperately get her used to bottle milk atleast 2 times a day bcoz i m unable to move out anywhere for more than 2 hrs.I find it difficult at times.

I tried giving her bottle milk but she resists strongly.I Tried enfamil but she didnt like the flavor and is gassy. Now i m trying nestle' s good start and again she resists though less than what she did with enfamil. But i want her to get used to bottle and formula.I tried flat nipple(nuk) from gerber but she is not taking it happily.

Pls suggest me somethng so that i can add bottle milk in her diet.I have tried all these-

1.Giving her bottle at night when she is fast
asleep.Result-failed.
2.Giving her bottle at daytime- result -failed
3.Feeding her with spoon so that atleast she
gets used to the milk- result -failed
4.Scolding her,forcing her-result -failed

Pls help !!!!

I would suggest you to start with pumping BM and offering that in the bottle first. try different kinds of bottles and see which one she is comfortable with. I use avent. and slowly transition with formula. when you start formula start slow give one feed a day and slowly increase the number of feeds.

Hi Pallavi,

Giving the bottle at night time AFTER she is fast asleep will not work...it is only when she is HALF asleep...but can still drink...

You can try the \" Similac Advance\" formula too...my daughter used to like that...I used to warm it slightly before giving it to her...

If you can then give her breast milk in the bottle initially so that she gets used to it...

Also, getting hold of the right bottle is very important...my kiddo hated everything till I found Avent..so you can try this brand too...

When trying to feed her with a bottle, go to a really quiet part of the house, put her in lap and hold her really close as you would while breast feeding...give her a rattle or some small toy in her hand to play with...you can play some soft lullaby in the background...and then give her the bottle...

You can also try giving her a pacifier so that she gets used to the sucking motion on a bottle and then quickly take out the pacifier and put in the formula bottle...

That' s all I can think of right now...

Hope this helps...

Ritika

first of all u r wasting your time by forcing n shouting at her coz children arelike if they dont want they dont want
i think wihtout any doc advice you shouldnt gv her any formula, n another solutio n is ask someone else to feed her from bottle n make sure u r not around her during that time coz the moment she sees u she wont have that bottle (same prob i had with my daughter)the moment you go close to her babies get smell of their mothers milk

Hi Pallavi,

You can try the following,

1. While giving BM squeeze the bottle in so that the flow is not interrrupted especially if she is half asleep she will take it.

2. Wait till she is really hungry, if you feed her after every 2 hrs then wait for 3 hrs before giving her bottle.
