Sandhya,

I just came across your question today, I know how you must have felt then. Is it any better now? Is your daughter eating well?

Take Care,
Mamatha

Dear Sandhya,

i understand and know exactly what you are going through.
Try giving her homemade fried potato chips, small cubes of cheese, banana, apple, chikoo. put all of them in a plate and keep it in front of her. dont force her to eat, but keep offering it to her.
Also i found that when i feed my baby with a spoon, she turns her head, but when i feed her with my hand, she opens her mouth.
Also around lunch time, try taking her to the park or outdoors where she will be distracted and feed her dry small foodstuff like maggi noodles, bread and butter, french fries.
Try making icecream at home, or buy good quality icecream and put it in readymade cones and offer it to her. let her mess up but at least some milk will go into her mouth.
Dont worry, she will pass through this phase and will start eating before you know it.

My son is 15 months too. The only way he will eat is, if he eats by himself. But he has not fully grasped the act of eating yet, but insists on doing so. It is normal for kids to do that at this age. If I try to feed him he will refuse. So what i do is put the bowl in front of him and give him a spoon and i have a spoon too. While he tries to get something in his mouth, i quickly feed him couple of spoons. probably he thinks he is eating by himself..but It works. Thats how I feed him all the time. Try this. may be it will work.

hello sandhya, Even my daughter is teething now and she is 20 months by today. She almost stopped all sort of daily feeding. Along with that, she started severe cold. She is crying a lot around night 1 or 2. I feel exhausted. milk she is taking exactly 100ml only. Some body suggest what to feed her at this situation.

Hi,

My daughter is 17months and I had same problem in last 3-4 months. When infants are teething or in any stress/ illness, just like us, they lose their appetite. What I do in those days is, I would try feeding her all liquid stuff or mushy stuff which doesnot hurt her gums. For e.g. I give her a pediasure for any meal she misses, try strawberry/chocolate/ vanilla milkshakes/ baby yogurts and lots of milk. Main point is to try to keep them hydrated and feed the nutrients!

I agree with Asha, it is temprorary and gets better. Good Luck!

Hi,

My daughter did the same thing last month. She didn' t eat for 2 weeks... neither she had any milk.I was worried too.later realised that she was teething.
dont worry she will temporarily reduce weight but gain it back soon.
its scary but these babies can go on without food for weeks... they will be alright
