Hi,
My baby is juat a few days over a month. his feeding (BM and top feed) was good and his motions werevery well regulated. about 5 days ago he was lethargic in the morning - he didn' t even ask for feed.i took him to the doc - he had fever and when he did his potty - it was green in colour and very very loose. the doc put him on nutrolin B. the fever disappeared next day but his motions are still loose. they aren' t green any more either.his feeding has resumed normally but he' s been passing a lot of gas. in fact sometimes while passing gas, there is a motion too- just a bit - but very loose. what can i do to ensure all' s well south of his tummy??

Hi Gita,
So baby age is just few days over month but the thing is instead of posting in forum you have to take an immediate action to solve the problem by consulting to doctor.

Hi Anjali,
Generally kids will face all these issue until they are one year.So you must not get tensed for every reason. You have to find good doctor for your kid who will give less medicine for kid.

Hi Gitanjali,
So your baby had stools repeatedly then you have to use the medicine in minimum quantity only because it must not lead to any problem for kid.So do take care of health also.

There is nothing really to worry as babies generally have motions which is loose as they are only on BM. I have a baby who is 8 months old and she too had motions which was loose untill 4 months, once i started semi-solid food her motions also started getting little harder. May i know why you are top feeding ur baby? Dont you have sufficient milk? According to doctors babies dont need any other feed other than breast milk untill they are 6 months old. But i had to give semi-solid food to my baby when she was in her 4th month as i did not have sufficient milk & moreover i had to resume office. As regds gas ensure that he takes in as much breast tissue in his mouth so that there is no gap in the sides of his mouth, which leads to gas problem when he sucks. His mouth needs to be full with breast tissue when you feed him. Always ensure that you burp your baby everytime he finishes a feed. Incase you are feeding him with a bottle, try Avent Philips Feeding Bottle. Thats the best you can get. This bottle prevents gas & colic in babies. I myself use that for my baby. But this is not available in India, you wud need to procure from UK / US through ur frnds / relatives. It will cost approx 1700 for 5 bottles incase you are buying the starter kit. You can check the product on amazon website. One more thing, always ensure that you sterilise the bottles & nipples after every feed by boiling in water for 5 minutes. All the best to you. Take care of ur baby.

At the same time the child is feeling some pain So try to understand and consult a doctor.... - sharmasanvi [View Message]
RE:bowel movement in 2 week old infant
Some babies go through phases when they either can't use the muscles to empty their bowels or they "forget how to". In that case, it's safest keep using the suppositories daily to make them do a dirty in 5 minutes.... - Su 03 [View Message]
RE:where can I get laxative?
You can get either glycerin or bisacodyl suppositories in any Indian pharmacy - I recommend saving money by not buying child-size ones, instead cutting adult supps in half to make a child-size dosage.
(I have a daughter with long-term bowel issues: she can't "do" without them!)... - Su 03 [View Message]
RE:constipation
When the baby is in discomfort from constipation (especially if she hasn't done some dirty for two days or more), the first thing you should give is a glycerin suppository.... - Su 03 [View Message]
RE:hi
Most doctors say banana doesn't help - the potassium in it makes constipation worse. Remember you can make your own prune puree in a blender. Grape, grapefruit and papaya are also laxative fruits. And remember you can safely use baby suppositories as often as you need to (they also help with "training" the baby to do a dirty at the same time every day)... - Su 03 [View Message]
RE:Baby Movements/Development
Consult a good doctor immediately as this should not be ignored as it will cause a big issue if you let it go now, please seek doctors advice on immediate basis.... - Aditi [View Message]
