Bowel and Bladder Movements:irregular bowel movements

My baby is 2and1/2 months old.he is not doing potty regularly.he is on both formula and BM.I am giving Enfamil. My ped asked me to use glycerin suppositories if stool is not coming in 2 days.But is it good to use this.If my baby will depend on this...
how long can I use this.or else I will wait when he will do his stool by him own.
My ped told me if he is not doing for 48 hrs then it is not normal, but I heard that even baby doesn' t do for 4/5 days.Does any body use glycerin suppositories before and their baby is now doing stool regularly?please let me know.I am really worried.yes one more thing his stool is normal not hard.

I need some more advice.Please help me.

Irregular Bowel Movements

Aks is right - whatever he' s fed, the baby should \" do a do\" at least once a day. And glycerine suppositories are the safest thing to use - according to one book you can use them daily, for as long as necessary, with no side effects or addiction.

Constipation Problem

Hi,
My baby is 2.5 months old. The same problem is with him.His Doctor says this is his style whenever he will take some solid diet then it will be ok. we are also giving him suppositors after 2-3 days.Now your baby is6-7 months old i think. Now he/she is ok with that problem or you have done something. Please tell me.

new mom - dnt wrry i know wht u are going thru...suppostiries are safe..n actually best as they are not absorbed by the body n hence no side effects. but at 2.5mnths babies pass stools even once in a week...are the stools hard...does the baby have any difficulty in passing it?...if baby is ok while passing stools even if irregular my suggestion will be to let him be n leave him alone. but u are the best judge. take care

why do u want to stop formula? If u stop formula is ur BM enuf for him? ideally everyone says its shd only be BM for babies...bt wrking mothers start formula. if ur hubby is telling u stop formula does he want u to give cows milk etc.? formula milka has all the nutrient tht a child needs cows milk is nt the most suitable atleast till 10mnths..google on this to find more. hope this helps. i am gald i cd b of help. take care

First of all thank you aks. I was really waiting for any reply, yes his stool is normal and he is not having any problem during bowel movement.My baby is normal also.
somebody asked me to stop formula, but I am not agree ,I can´ t stop formula , b´ coz he is in a practice of having formula.What do u suggest? Always I have argument with my husband,he is telling in future he will be having any serious problem,I don´ t know how can I explain this.He is telling to stop formula.but I am not agree.Please suggest me.

You can get either glycerin or bisacodyl suppositories in any Indian pharmacy - I recommend saving money by not buying child-size ones, instead cutting adult supps in half to make a child-size dosage.

Most doctors say banana doesn't help - the potassium in it makes constipation worse. Remember you can make your own prune puree in a blender. Grape, grapefruit and papaya are also laxative fruits.
