1. Gargle with Salt Water

2. In-Take of Warm Liquids

3. Traditional Turmeric Remedies

Apart from this, honey can be utilized in many ways to reduce cough like mixing honey with grape juice, hot milk and lemon juice.

5. Ginger Remedies

Ginger is one of the best home remedy for cough and has lots of amazing facts. Chewing a piece of ginger with some sprinkles of salt over it cures dry cough. Most of the children do not like the taste of raw ginger and thus, making a cup of ginger tea is equally good. Combination of ginger and Tulsi is an effective remedy for cough. Ten leave of crushed Tulsi and a small piece of ginger along with a teaspoon of honey (thrice a day) clears the throat and gives a relief from cough in children.

6. Garlic Remedies

A study from the University of Maryland Medical Center states that garlic helps in preventing cold and reduces its symptoms. Make children consume 5 cloves of garlic sautéed in a teaspoon of ghee. Preparation of garlic soup is a good home remedy if a child refuses to take up the garlic in whole.

7. Hot Water Steam

Inhaling steam is a very good traditional home remedy for children. It provides a good sleep at nights. Make the kid to inhale the hot water steam for a few minutes by standing in the bathroom, or even adding eucalyptus oil can mollify the child’s breathing system.

Instead of running behind doctors or pediatricians to prescribe antibiotics or using OTC (over-the-counter) medications in the initial stage, it is always better to proceed with natural home remedies for cough in children. However, if your child is allergic to any of the ingredients mentioned above, avoid using. Consult your doctor before trying these remedies on your children.
