The instances of Lord Krishna’s true and deep friendship are popular around the world. One of the instances where Lord Krishna proved himself as a great friend is when he saved Draupadi from distress. Let us take a look at one of the popular incidents on Lord Krishna’s friendship.
As per Indian mythology Draupadi the wife of Pandavas is known as Krishna’s sister. Although a brother-sister relationship existed between Krishna and Draupadi, a deep friendship too flourished between them. The bond of friendship between them was eternal and they addressed each other as ‘Sakha’ and ‘Sakhi’. A relationship of pure and divine friendship continued between them for the times immemorial.
Once when Krishna’s finger started bleeding when he threw Sudarshan Chakra at Shishupal, Draupadi tore her Sari and dressed his finger in order to stop the bleeding. Looking at this heart-warming gesture of Draupadi, Krishna took a pledge to protect her throughout his entire lifetime.
So, when Pandavas lost Draupadi in a gamble to Kauravas and when Kauravas tried to do Vastraharana of Draupadi, Krishna saved her from the distress. As Dushasana tried unwrapping the Sari of Draupadi in order to undress her, a miracle took place. He pulled the layers and layers of Sari but he was unable to undress her. Tired of pulling the innumerable layers of Sari Dushasana gave-up and was unsuccessful in undressing her. In this way Krishna kept his promise and saved Draupadi from the biggest distress of her life.
Moral: Good friends always remain by the sides of each other during testing times.
