Eating disorders are developed in children due to poor and unhealthy eating habits. Such disorders can cause health issues in kids. Therefore, it is essential to prevent eating disorders in children before it is too late. Find tips for preventing eating disorders in children right here.

In most of the situations indulgence is a common practice. Over indulgence in food is quite commonly seen in functions and parties. Anorexia, binge eating are problems which people generally experience when they over indulge with food. Kids also face this problem, as they generally cannot understand or assess their food requirement. They get confused or generally misled with too much food around them. Generally, kids either do not eat at all or over eat. Both ways they tend to spoil their routine and disturb their health.
So, it is very important to prevent eating disorders in children when they are still tender in their age. Else, it results into a major problem, as they grow in life.

How to Discourage Eating Disorders in Children

Let us see how you can discourage eating disorders in children,

Severing Small Quantity with Time Intervals

Children fail to recognise that they are hungry. So it is very important to maintain food timings and give them small quantities with time intervals. Slowly, a child should be trained to maintain his or her food timings and develop proper routine in daily life.

Serve More of Fruits

When a child wants to eat junk foods, it is important to replace it with fruits or any other healthy snack. Mostly, we fail to identify many good foods around us, as you go by the popularity of the food and not by its taste. So, slowly, if right foods are included into your routine, junk foods can be largely avoided in the diet.

Serving Right Quantity of Food at the Right Time

Generally, parents do not leave the child to eat the quantity of food he or she wants to eat. The child is always forced to eat more food. This way, a child develops aversion towards food and never enjoys food even after he or she grows up in life. It is always said that appetite comes with eating. Also the food tastes very yummy, when we are really hungry. So you should allow the child to eat the quantity of food by his or her own judgement. This way, we can avoid eating disorders and help him to identify his hunger and satisfy his food requirements.

Encourage Regular Small Exercises

Mothers worry if the child is skinny or even when they are putting lot of weight. If you try to exercise the child and put him or her in regular play habits, both these situations can be avoided. A child when plays for a while can eat proper food. He or she also can maintain body without getting chubby or obese.

Encourage to Drinking Plenty of Water all Day

A child needs lots of water. This will help him or her remain healthy and active. Everyone needs to drink at least two glasses of water before every meal. This will help the child to eat less and his water intake helps in proper digestion of food.
Along with all the above, eating fibre foods, green and leafy vegetables, seasonal foods, including few herbal foods which are also medicinal in nature like cinnamon, mint and ginger helps in regularizing the body and cleaning up the system on regular basis.
Along with having proper breakfast, lunch and dinner, it is a must for the kids to consume milk in their daily diet. If the sleep habits are rhythmic, food is absorbed by the body. School kids need to be very systematic in their daily routine. This will help them in concentration, gaining proper knowledge, and excel in their studies. At the same time, parents should never link performance with the food and punish the child by denying them their food. This will hurt the child both physically and morally. Overall body health can be maintained if you maintain proper diet timings and avoid eating disorders.
