Food allergies have become quite common in kids these days. The first thing is that knowing that your kids is suffering from food allergy is little bit difficult and then looking for suitable snack to give your child becomes all the more difficult.
Many kids are allergic to food items these days and the most common of these food stuffs are milk, eggs, soy, wheat, peanuts and others. If you are a parent of such child, you should select snacks that do not include the items to which your child is allergic to.

What is Food Allergy in Kids?

A food allergy is when the immune system of the kid recognizes certain food items as harmful for the body and releases chemicals to fight it off. The child in turn gets rashes, breathing problem and many different symptoms are seen. This usually happens when the child takes in that specific food or any food item that contains the elements of that food stuff with which the kid is allergic. Although it is believed that family history is responsible for these allergies, many cases have come up without any history also.

Eating with Food Allergy

As soon as you come to know that your child is allergic to specific food, you should eliminate that from her diet immediately. When you go shopping for food items and cook food for your child, you will have to be extra careful. All this might take a lot of time, but if you plan well you will find that there are many food items that can be prepared even if you exclude the ones with which your child is allergic to. If your child is still an infant, it is better to consult the pediatrician and find out what is best for your child.

Here are some snacks that can be given to children who are coping with food allergy.

Fresh Fruits

Fresh and seasonal fruits are best snacks for children with food allergies. Fresh fruits are less like to cause any allergy but in case if your child is allergic to some fruits, avoid them.
If your child enjoys the food in natural way, it is good. But if he or she gets bored, you can present it to him or her in different ways. Cut the fruits in different shapes or present it in the form of a cartoon figure in the tray. With creativity and imagination you will find variety of options to choose from.

Variety in Vegetables

You will be surprised to find your little one enjoying vegetables specially when you cook and serve them in various ways. You can bake them, fry them and even offer raw, but make sure they are presented to your child in variety so that he or she enjoys each time he or she has been served vegetables. You can also work on different shapes like candies or thin straws or whatever your imagination tells you at that moment. Fresh vegetables may not cause any allergy but in case if your child is allergic to any vegetables avoid them.

Munches

Children love to bite on crunchy munches. You can try offering them with vegetables as the base item. You will be surprised that many leafy vegetables including spinach can be made into wonderful and tasty chips. Just make sure that you keep your little one’s tiny hands in mind and of course, the taste. Also, make a note that giving fried stuff everyday to children may not be good for their health. It is ok to give them such foods once in a while.
Providing the right food for your child you will not only help your child get healthy food, but also save him or her from discomfort due to his allergy problem. You just need to plan and prepare everything beforehand. For example, if you have to go on vacation, shopping for food, birthday party or to dine out, you need to plan out carefully so that your child also enjoys the outing despite of the allergy.
