Your child may achieve a lot of developmental milestones by the age of 5 and can do many things independently by this age. Read on to learn more about the developmental milestones your child may achieve by age 5.
A child’s developmental milestones should be carefully monitored by parents so that its non adherence to norms can be easily found out and taken care of. As psychology points out, children are able to do a range of activities at specific ages. If they cannot, it is better to get them checked.
Developmental problems if treated at an early age have chances of rectification. It has been seen that in many cases of retardation, the condition has worsened because the parents were not paying attention when their child did not perform the typical activities of their age. The age 5 is a very important milestone because by this age a child’s brain and body develops quite rapidly and they begin to develop all the cognitive and co-native functions. By the age of 5 your child should be able to achieve the following milestones.
Emotional Development
Emotional functions are directly related to brain and neural development. This is the stage where they develop at the fastest rate. The kind of emotional development your kid will show at this age is extremely different from what they showed even a few months back. At age 5 your kid will suddenly display emotions and have feelings.
1. They can be demanding at times and at times cooperative.
2. They will display a lot of independence. They will begin to recognise themselves as independent individuals and try to do things themselves.

1. They want to make their friends like them.
2. They also try to adopt the habits of their friends.
3. They learn to interact on their own with their peers.
4. They get involved in playing with their peers on their own.
Language Development
Their speech develops highly at this age:
1. Are able to speak in small sentences and can even narrate short stories.
Their brains develop and they begin to think and do intellectual things. They become thinking individual and develop primary skills required to study at school.
1. Can copy basics shapes that they are asked to replicate, like triangles, squares, and circle.
2. They are also able to do numerical things like they can count from one to ten on their fingertips. They can count how many objects are placed in front of them. With effort they can even write their numbers.
3. They have knowledge of daily things like food, clothes, stationary, and money. They come to recognize them separately and understand their functions.
4. Is able to write the alphabet from picture books.
5. Can draw a basic sketch of a human figure.
Physical Development

1. Can ride the swing and climb the jungles Jims.
2. If taught can even execute somersaults.
