10 Positive Things Parents Must Say to Children

Saying certain positive phrases to children can help to improve the parent child-bonding and develop a sense of security in them. Such phrases can also help to encourage them. Learn about the 10 positive things parents must say to their children.

It is a commonly known fact that the actions performed by children are nothing but a mere reflection of the actions performed by the parents. In these circumstances, it becomes important that you set high standards for your children by your actions. The most basic form of action is statement. So, it becomes important to speak carefully before your children. As a parent, there are a few things that you must regularly tell your children. Not only this helps in shaping their behaviour, but also carves them into a well-mannered and a responsible individual.

10 Positive Phrases Parents Must Say to Children

Here are 10 positive phrases parents must say to children to develop a sense of security and trust in them and boost their self-confidence.

1) “We believe in you.”

Your children are going to take decisions which might worsen up things for a while. They might fail several times, but never should you lose your faith in them.

2) “We are proud of you.”

Nothing is better than the little achievements of your child. Tell them that you are proud of them. Children are motivated by when they are praised and when their accomplishments are celebrated by their loved ones, it makes them more confident and happy.

3) “Yes, this is possible.”

Never tell them things cannot be done. Always let them find a way to accomplish their biggest challenges, or if possible, assist them to realise their dreams. This inculcates a quality of determination in your child, motivating them to take up new challenges.

4) “Every idea is beautiful.”

Some parents are lucky to be blessed with a curious child. With curiosity comes a flood of questions and ideas. Parents must understand that every idea from their children should be encouraged. Even if they make little sense in the real world, let them explore their potential.

5) “Think before you speak and act.”

Well, some parents might confuse this statement as sceptical, but most realise that in the long run, it turns to be a useful advice. Asking your children to be responsible is not only a positive start, but encourages them to take decisions that can be fruitful.

6) “We are listening.”

Never make your child feel that they are unwanted. Tell them that you are listening. And listen to them earnestly when they come to you to tell you something. Assure them of your support, but do not confuse it with spoon-feeding. Give your children the space they need and shower your unconditional love on them.

7) “You can make mistakes.”

One of the most important statements you can ever communicate to your child. Let them know that it is alright to make mistakes. Children must understand that at some point or the other, things are going to go astray. A project shall fail, a competition shall be lost, and a glass would be broken, but never should hope be lost. But ensure that you make their understand the difference between what is right and what is wrong, what is ethical and what is unethical, what is acceptable and what is not, so that they avoid making mistakes.

8) “Sky is the limit.”

Never tell your child that they have done enough. Always encourage them to create new limits with every new achievement. You do not want your child to sit back and relax after making a few good choices. So, help them reach out for the stars.

9) “No can be an answer.”

Children, as brilliant and well-behaved they might be or not, should understand that “no” is going to be an answer. Be it a late night party or an unnecessary social gathering or expenditure, children should learn to take “no” as an answer without any outbursts or tantrums.

10) “It’s ok to back down sometimes.”

Well, not every idea is going to sail through the storm of the ocean and not every task is going to yield favourable results. So, as a parent you must use your judgement when things are not working out and tell your children that it is alright to back down once in a while. There would be a better time for ideas, for results, but the moral is more important than anything.
So, these are the 10 positive statements that can make a difference in your child’s behaviour, life, and the relationship between you two.
