Hi ,

I have a 5 year old son. I am 35.

Trying for second one (since 2 years) without any success
Currently I am undergoing clomid treatment along with that Dr gave me shots of
(ovu someting - do not rememember the name)

I have been going for follicle imaging every other day. Now the question is do
I need to go for this scan in every cycle, I find them to be too intrusive and
I don' t think I can take it.

Can I just take clomid and leave it to nature ?.
I am not intersted in taking HCG shot either.
Is it needed ?. If i take clomid does outside intervention (like HCG) is a must for Egg to rupture?

To answer you questions- The best way to induce ovulation by Clomiphene is to track the follicle growth by scan. In the unit we do 1 or 2 scans at about 8 to 10 days and thereafter depending on the length of the patient' s cycle.If your cyles are longer you will need more scans. If you have fairly regular cycles it may be possible to check for ovulation by using a urinary LH kit (sold as Clearblue in the UK). Please ask your doctor about that.
Using HCG is a clinical decision. If LH kits are not used it may be dificult to predict ovulation (and time sex). In such circumstances it may be useful to use HCG during a clomid cyle. HCG is also useful if you have a long or irregular cyles with unpredictable ovulation.
In short, not scanning removes much of the science behind ovulation induction. However scanning and HCG use can be reduced by using LH surge prediction kits.Scanning will also tell the doctor whether you are resistant to clomiphene.
BTW, Have you had a HSG or similar test for tubal patency?
