Feeding:What is Ragi ?

Hi Friends

This is the first time I am posting a message on this site. Have read and heard a lot about Ragi. I have checked ons ome grocery stores near my house, but no one has anything called Ragi.

Can anyone help me with buying this ? I stay in East Delhi, Preet Vihar. My son Yash is 6 and a half months old now and lately have started refusing to eat anything. He simply wants milk and nothing else. However, I try my best to feed him something or the other very often.

Some light over making him interested to eat once again will also be of great help.

Rgds

Urvashi,

I recently gave him greens like mashed peas and green beans which worked well.Prune juice is good too.
His pediatrician told me to hold back on things like banana and apple sauce.

hope this helps.

Hi Urvashi,

In your last message you mentioned that your son has developed 'khushki' in his stools, what does it mean?
I have a 6 month old son and he has constipation and strains a lot while passing stools. I have stopped giving him banana.I give him Ragi twice a week and rice cereal rest of the days. What other foods can I give him so that he doesn't get constipated?
Thanks!

Rashmi,

I meant constipation in his stools. He cries while passing them. I try to give him a lot of water, dal ka paani and rice water also. I wish to give him Ragi, but have not been able to get it in any store as yet. if you give him banana, add cardamom in it and give him. Give mashed chickoo, papaya also.

More even I am not sure, how to help him much. let me know if you can get hold of something. Do you give him gripe water ? I have started giving him one spoon daily.

Love
urvashi

Ragi is Barley. You get in any grocery stores. It looks like a brown fine powder. Good luck!

Thanks Aarya for your response, I will try them out. He has mashed banana but then again lately he has developed 'khushki' in his stools...almost cries while passing stools. So, I am again thinking of stopping his banana intake for some days.

Where do you stay ? I have stayed in Maharashtra in Jalna for about 8 years during my school time. Write back
