Subject:  tofu is a very healthy food



Tofu is eaten a lot by Japanese and Chinese people. Its high in protein and no cholestrol. Its a very healthy food. When i started eating this, i felt plain and no-taste food. But now i am a regular user of tofu. It is obtained as soft or hard tofu. Soft tofu can be just steamed or even pan fried with little oil and add sauce for taste. It can be added to any vegetable fry (but add at the end and dont scratch it with spoon while mixing, since it is very tender).Once the packet (raw tofu) is opened, it should be finished in 1-2days time. Otherwise some mold might grow even after storing in the fridge. hope all this information helps.

thanks for the information..however i have read that it shud be plced in water and that water shud be replaced everyday and it will be last for 7-8 days..is this true..and i have got firm tofu..can I give that to my 10 months old baby or shud i buy soft tofu only

hi..i found one msg from the old post..so sharing with u also

yes, it is very much good to give tofu above 8month onwards.
watch for ne discomfort however.
give baked tofu, boiled tofu with mix vegie soup, sauted tofu with mix vegies and scrumble tofu without guilt in his dal and rice,,its a very good source of protein.
also, you can make tiny little tofu balls. smash vegies, add in watever spices you have introduced, scrumble some tofu in it and make it lil balls..let your child play and eat himself !
if not good with textures, give it boiled and scrumbled in his cereals or soups..
go for organic or ne tofu that does not have ingrediants more than 3 things, one is soyabean curd, other is water, and third will be mostly some preservative.which is pretty much ok for consumption.
also always go for soft tofu or tender tofu that comes in block in market.never opt for extra firm or firm..babies dont have that much patience to eat them.
dont get the prechopped ones.
also, you can store tofu upto the recommended days depending on brand, jst place tofu everyday in fresh water,keep changing old water and it will stay a couple days more.check for manufacturers storing intructions, as it depends alot on brand and how its manufactured or packed.
also,go for smaller packs,so that you dont have to worry about storing much ! incase its just for babies,,if you are good consumer of tofu,,go ahead and get big chunks..
