Hi,

Saw your post and several others' . I dont understand why you guys get worked up so much. DOnt panic and calm down. My niece was not talking until she was four. Now she talks non-stop. My daughter started to speak when she was 1.5yrs but my son isnt speaking much even at 2.5yrs. So dont worry. There are other symptoms apart from late speech devt for serious illnesses. Rule out those and give the child some space to develop in his own pace. Best regards.

hi, my son was diagnosed with a language delay when he was 2. he had severe echolalia and exhibited autistic like symptoms, but was non autistic. basically PDD-NOS. read up all you can on speech/language/PDD etc. find a good psychologist and a good language therapist. your pediatrician is the best source. but what i shd tell you is my son is 5 today. expressive speech is still tough, but hes coping with an ICSE set up. his teachers love him and tell me hes absolutely at par. so hang in there. give him loads of time and follow up on therapy work. you are lucky youve seen probs so young. and i can only tell you things get better, actually they' re gr8.

Hi Gigigango,

My son is now 3.4 yrs. he started talking when turned 3 and has been progressing since then (not much but I get excited with every lil word he learns). We were still advised that he needs speech therapy and OT for concerns such as poor sitting tolerance and attention problems. My only concern as such has always been his speech delay.
We put him in pre kg at 2.6 yrs and that helped a lot.
I have just contacted a speech and occupational therapist and will start therapy soon after getting to know the results of the assessment that my son went through

After reading your message it does give me hope that with time things will get better

I´ m not sure which school to put him in now. A CBSE or ICSE school. Are ICSE schools better in the sense that children learn by doing, and not by rote.

Pl. let me know your views

Cheers!
