Bowel and Bladder Movements:Deflux treatment for VUR
2007-05-23
Name: Pt

My Son has a Level 3 VUR (urine flowing backwords)in one of his bladders. He is 21 months old now. He has been on a low dosage of antibiotic since 6 months of age when he was first diagonised by this problem. His Urologist is suggesting a Deflux Procedure where they will inject something in his baldder which has only 70 to 80 of success rate.
I wanted to know if anybody has experinced this kind of a thing and actually gone through this procedure. If yes, what are the after effects of the procedure?
Another option we have is to continue the antibiotic and wait for coupe of more years to see if the reflux goes away on it' s own. I am just not sure if giving my son an antibiotic for such a long period is a good idea.
If anybody has any input on this, it will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you
Prity

RE:Baby cries while passing urine - Hetal pls advice
At the same time the child is feeling some pain So try to understand and consult a doctor.... - sharmasanvi [View Message]
RE:bowel movement in 2 week old infant
Some babies go through phases when they either can't use the muscles to empty their bowels or they "forget how to". In that case, it's safest keep using the suppositories daily to make them do a dirty in 5 minutes.... - Su 03 [View Message]
RE:where can I get laxative?
You can get either glycerin or bisacodyl suppositories in any Indian pharmacy - I recommend saving money by not buying child-size ones, instead cutting adult supps in half to make a child-size dosage.
(I have a daughter with long-term bowel issues: she can't "do" without them!)... - Su 03 [View Message]
RE:constipation
When the baby is in discomfort from constipation (especially if she hasn't done some dirty for two days or more), the first thing you should give is a glycerin suppository.... - Su 03 [View Message]
RE:hi
Most doctors say banana doesn't help - the potassium in it makes constipation worse. Remember you can make your own prune puree in a blender. Grape, grapefruit and papaya are also laxative fruits. And remember you can safely use baby suppositories as often as you need to (they also help with "training" the baby to do a dirty at the same time every day)... - Su 03 [View Message]
RE:Baby Movements/Development
Consult a good doctor immediately as this should not be ignored as it will cause a big issue if you let it go now, please seek doctors advice on immediate basis.... - Aditi [View Message]
RE:Baby Movements/Development
Hi Karthik this is a serious issue and you should look into this matter very seriously as its concern with your own child and you cannot let things go, have a good consulting done by a good doctor.... - Amaira [View Message]
