My baby is 7 months & 3 weeks old. Over the past 1 & 1/2 months she has only gained 400 gms.(Current weight 7.9 kg) She is very fussy with food and drinking milk. We are giving her cerlac (wheat / fruits), rice, ragi seeds, fruits like banana apple orange with milk, veg like carrots, cousa and moong dal. What else can i give her? She hardly drinks water or fruit juices without milk. She is also very constipated and strains when going to the toilet. She hasnt got her teeth yet. Doctor says her diet is not good and to give her egg (fried ????) and put sugar in everything so she will eat.... ( is that good???)

She is also not sitting on her own as yet. ( will sit if we support her or leaning on a pillow etc. )

Please give me some suggestions on her diet and different variations of fruits and veg that i can give.

Your suggestions will be a great help.

Thnx

Worried and anxious mum.

You can give a boiled egg (Only the egg yolk)after 6 months of age. Just make sure the egg is fully cooked. It is suggested that it' s better not to add sugar or salt to any of the baby' s food. It doesn' t sound good but its good for their health for long term.

Hello all,
i understand your frustration. Make sure you give enough time between meals. seat her in a comfortable position may be in a high chair and entertain her with some toys while feeding. if she is on formula and fusses to drink formula try changing the brand. may be try a soy based formula for a while. infants this age should have atleast 17-24 ounces of milk a day. put a bottle in her mouth when she is asleep. my son who is the same age also fusses when i give him the same food everyday. make sure u give her something different everyday. think about it..would u like to eat same thing everyday???? some fruit u can try are apples, bananas, pears, apricots, peaches, avacados... vegetables include carrots, cauliflower, broccoli, green beans, zuchini, yellow squash, asparagus tips, peas....try mixing cereals with these fruit and vegetable purees.
hope this helps

I bought the ragi seeds frm India. Soak some in water overnight. Then next morning, grind in a blender.. The black covering of the seeds will come out and will float on the top. Remove the covering the put the rest in boiling water and alow to cook on slow flame. Keep stirring till it starts to thicken (like porridge).. Then add 1/2 tsp milk to the mixture and mix well. Cool and give baby. U can add sugar if desired.
