I' ve trying so long to get my wife conceived. It has been around 18 months that we got married and went to gynecologist. All the tests are found to be normal and gync advised that we' re not having intercourse properly for that past 18 months as my wife' s vaginal layer is still existing. Later after one month she again tested my wife and said that everything is OK now. This month we planned carefully but my wife got her regular menustral cycle.

My concern is how long should i try to make my wife conceive. Please advise me as myself and my wife are so concerned.

Kalyan replied. I am so shocked to have read that your wife was STILL a virgin after 18months of marriage! HOW can you not have known how to have sex? I understand that you want to have a baby but if I were you I would be concentrating on the physical side of my marriage BEFORE considering kids. I don' t know who to feel more sympathy for, you or your wife! I do hope things inprove in this department.

Anyway enough of that and lets talk about conception. We' ve established that you' ve only been having proper intercourse for the past month and I think that has been the root of all your problems. It might help you to know that most people conceive within 3-6 months of trying but some take as long as 12 months to fall pregnant. The best time to have sex is while your wife is ovlating, this occurs approximately 14 days after she begins menses each month. Now as I said conception takes time, if after 6months you have had no luck go straight back to the doctor. The reason I say this is because you REALLY want to be certain you' re getting the practical side of things correct, anything after that and I dare say your doc will suggest a fertility work up.
