Trying since long:HSG before IUI??

Name: PP I got a pelvic scan done and the results are fine. Should I also get an HSG done in addition? Can I not try the IUI wihtout an HSG test? Is it really that much important?

Can the semen sample be stored/frozen before I get my IUI? What is the max time it can be frozen? My due date for IUI is 5th Aug and my husband is in town on 4th Aug!! Can you please help!!!!

HSG

Hi! My doc did not start the treatment until I got an HSG done. Basically it is to ensure that there are no blockage in the tubes. its better u get it done, as it could be really frustrating to know that u went through all the ordeal of medication and realize that u haven' t conceived as u have blockage in the tube
My doc also did not advice medication during the cycle that I got the HSG done, they said that the effect of the dye on a possible fetus is unknown and not recomended

u havent mentioned ur age and also for how long u' ve been TTC and also if u have polycystic ovaries or any other problem........doctors generally do IUI THRICE before they ask u to get ur HSG done IF they dont see any problem with ur scan...........if they see a problem with ur scan then they dont want to waste IUI cycles and ask to get HSG done to eliminate tubal blockage etc.........why do u want to freeze the sample if ur husband is going to be there on 4th?fresh sample is always better on the day of IUI.every hospital/clinic is not equipped with freezing facility.U need to check with ur doctor about it if u want the sprem to be freezed..........hope my answers help.all the best...hope ur IUI is positive.take care.

Scan result!!

hi rene,

thanks for the answers.. my age is 29 and i have not tried any IUI before.. this is the first time.. my scan was normal..

my husband is in town on 4th and 5th.. 5th is a sunday and the nearby hospital is closed.. so need to take the sample on 4th itself and freeze it.. is it ok??? I will get the IUI done on 6th..

I dodnt understand why my doc asked me to get the HSG done??? not really sure about that!!!!

Hi rene,

I took clomid for three cycles.i have a uterine fibroid.Otherwise scans are normal.The doctor said uterine fibroid is small and it won´ t interfere with pregnancy.After 3 clomid cycles she asked to take HSG and it was normal & again she asked to wait for 2 months and then go for IUI.But u ´ ve said HSG can be done afer 3 IUIs.Is my doctor doing correct or....I mean ´ m worried.Plz do reply.Thank you.
