hi ! megha, thanks a lot for the tips. now i have one for u since your son is starting the sipper cup. u know i started the sipper for my son in between meals when he was thirsty and i got (if u' re in US) those gerber ones with handles and the spout is made of silicone. that really worked for my son as the silicone rubber mouth soothed my baby' s teething. so try that and now i have completely stopped giving him that also and changed to a straw cup - NUBY' s straw handle cups. they r so good. available in walmart. i' ve made the hole bigger and it doesn' t drip and he can hold it right and easily drink lassi or juices and now even milk sometimes if his mood is upto it. so i just wanted to suggest this since u wrote it' s getting difficult for u with the sipper. hope this help. congrats to u - since your hardwork is paying off and your baby is doing so well in eating. all the best and thank u once again for the tips.

i will surely chk out for the straw cups.i am in the UK ..so will hv to find a similar one to gerber with silicone spout. meanwhile i will give him in betn meals..i hv already tried 2 varieties but htye are tose hard plastic ones. he will just hv 5-6 sips ..total of around 1/2 an ounce from the sipper. then i give him in bottle. but i think i should be strict now. thanks again for ur tips. other thing if u can help on..does ur son take any night feeds. my son has just started to sleep through but only 3 days of a week. others he still gets up and has around 4oz of FF. now i hv reduced it to 3 oz..do think diluting the milk would be a good idea.?? and its just his habit..coz even if i give 3oz he will happily drink it and sleep..let me know if u hv any suggestions...thanks again. hope u son is doing fine..

It seems megha that are the one who havs posted the message for Sonia as " wellwisher" . Thank God I wasn´ t the one trying to help you and thank god I didn´ t waste time on you. Shame on you. Only you would have done the background check for sleep and you only would know which messages have already been posted. You have no shame. What a lousy person you are. Wonder what you would teach your child. I really pity on Sonia who wrote an essay for you. I often read and don´ t reply. But may be through my mail Sonia and others will know what you are and what you are upto. One should do an IP check on you.

Megha

How old is your child ? Because I had the same problem with my daughter when I introduced the sippy cup(she was abt 8 months then). She would drink a few sips and then I had to feed her with a spoon. But I didnt discontinue the sippy cup and after abt a month she started taking a complete feed from the sippy cup.

hi ! for sleeping megha, i had a really tuff time when he was about 6 mnths but i also have a 5 yr. old. so night time feedings were becoming too much for me to handle as inthe day time i got no sleep and this lil guy would wake me up 5-6 times in the night and i also had to take care of my daughter too. so my american doc suggested me to move out of the room and make him sleep thru the night without any feedings. well children can smell mommies when u nurse them even if they r in the same room but far away. so he could sense i was in the room and so it didn´ t work. i moved out with a heavy heart. for like 2-3 days and he did cry but everytime his cry lasted a few minutes less than the last time and soon he started sleeping thru the night. i had to take a lot of courage to do that. let him cry but u know what it worked like a charm. he´ s been sleeping thru the night since. i offer him milk in the bottle when i go to bed. sometimes he takes and sometimes he doesn´ t. u know u have to train them - like for solids, for potty etc. for some it comes naturally. for some have to be trained. i can vouch for that. your son is a little too big to be trained now. but u have to cut the cord someday somehow so why wait. u´ ve have a good night sleep, u´ ll see he will also have an undisturbed sleep. just humm or pat him and if he´ s sleepy which they r inthe middle of the night, he will sleep with out asking for milk. but it will take time. u should try. i had read a lot of theories on sleeping so what i concluded was - that the child should be awake when u put him down. don´ t put the bottle in to put him to sleep but then they get used to the suckling habit. so now i just say " sleep time" and put him in bed and he play a little with him hands and i go out of his room right after putting him down and put on the monitor. he sleeps. but u have to know when he´ s sleepy. yawning and rubbing eyes etc. so use the signs. it probably worked becoz i trained him very young. u´ ll have to see. but try it out. if it gets worse after a week or 3-4 days quit . u have nothing to loose. right !! let me know if this works for u ! take care !
