Hi Everyone,

I have 7 months old baby girl whose is going thru the teething process. She has got her first 2 teeth couple of days back. She doesn't seem to be having any pain though she always tries to nibble the teeth with her tongue and has become very fussy as far as eating is concerned. She seemed to be not much interesting in food but very much interested in playing. She is quite active. But I get really worried that she might lose weight if she doesn't eat well. Her appetite seemed to have gone done these couple of days and I do not know if it could be due to teething.

I would really appreciate if anyone could share their baby's teething experiences with me so that I am able to understand what is going on with my baby and not get over stressed that she is not eating properly. I hope she gets back good appetite soon.

Pls. reply..Thanks.

Hi there,

My little girl is almost 1. Over the last week she has been waking every 1/2 hour - 1 hour at night. I'm sure she is teething, she is drooling alot, hasn't been eating much and is really fussy over what she will eat. The only times she gets really upset is when I try to feed her. I do worry that she will lose weight, although she still nurses frequently throughout the day and night. She got her first two teeth at about 10 months (1 week apart) and I experienced similar problems then.

It is hard not to get stressed out especially is you are nursing and have to suddenly pick up the slack for them not eating, but it does pass, so you just need to stick it out.

Good luck

Hi Priya,
My baby boy too is just 7 months old and he has sprouted two teeth on his lower jaw.Though he didnt have much of a problem regarding teething he had indeed become a little fussy. My so too is more interested in playing. He picks up anyhing he gets ands tries to chew on it.I had bought some teethers that could be frozen and used to soothe the gums but he prefers spoons and other things. If possible buy a rubber tipped spoon for feeding as the baby can chew on it and it wont hurt also. What solids do you give her?.I give my son ragi, powdered plantain, rice ,vegetables, fruits and yogurt.I am thinking of giving him egg yolks soon.
whats your baby's name?Mine is called Nikhil

Hi,
My daughter is 2yr old. She went thro the same phase. I used to give her cold i.e. not frozen but not lukewarm porridge, and custard whatever I felt she would not dislike. I used to also give her hard things like biscuits without dipping in milk. The babies eat less but atleast they eat. I made myself mentally prepared when the doctor told me that babies undergo problems like fear from a foreign body and we must support them not increase their tantrums bcoz they get irritable most of the time. So my suggestion to you too is that give her some fruit which she likes it is also a complete meal in itself or anything which you feel she loves and cold bcoz the gums become more tender and tend to pain so you should avoid hot or warm, lukewarm can do.
Hope this helps
Regards
Wafia
