Hi,
My son is 6-months old now. He does not accepts any kind of solid. I have tried - mashed bananas, papaya, bolied apple, daal, mashed rice, ceralac. Wht should I do. He will cry his heart out if I try to give him anything. How should I handle this.
Being a working mom, I have rely upon my maid. Is force-feeding an answer to such fussy eaters?
Please help.
Thanks,
A worried mom :(

Thanks. I will try ragi.
Yes i agree, taste is not a issue with him..sometimes if i am able to distract him, he will take few spoons. I just hope he does not develop some deficiency.
Thanks again

Since u have tried a wide range of food items my guess is that taste is not the issue. Try feeding him in a different position / place. Try holding him like you would for BF or bottel and give him a few spoons of diluted cereal or fruit. Take him near a window or out in the garden and see if he' ll eat a few spoons. Last option see if the TV will distract him enough to eat..
I know they say that u shuld inculcate good eating habits right from infancy, avoid tv, make them sit at the table with u during meal times etc etc and it' s probably true for children who are willing to eat a little. But with a fussy baby it' s more important to get some nutrition in first..

Hi Monika,

Have you tried giving him mangoes?Kids usually love mangoes. And if he does eat it then just start adding mangoes in small quantities to other things and once he develops a taste for other foods stop adding the mangoes or whatver he likes.

Also, try distracting him with his favourite toy or anything while feeding him. I do that with my son.

Try giving him soups. In fact i have some good recipes once he starts eating a little bit you an try them. I can email them to you if you like.

Force feeidng.. BAD IDEA. I have read that force feeding leads to kids having eating disorders when they grow up.. so avoid that.

Let me know how things go.
Good luck

Thanks all for your replies. The message is dont loose heart..Keep on trying. Come up with some tricks. These days my son has become very smart. I put something in his mouth and he will make some " furrrrr" kind of sound and everything out. I feel so worried. At times i laugh also. These babies..oh god :)
Will try out your ideas too. 1 question here. How do you give ragi. I have not tried it for myself also. So I dont know abt it.
Thanks,
Monika
