Trying since long:For Archie and others, very concerned!!

Hi,

I am on clomid for last 4 months and we are trying since last 5 months for a baby. I was on clomid 100mg last month, but got my periods yestr. I have just come from a vaginal checkup from my gynacs clinic now.
My gynac has now asked me to do all blood tests and a sonogram again and semen test for my husband. She said that, she wants to do some hormonal tests and also check my insulin level. According to my previous sonograms done two years ago, she says I do not have PCOS. But, when I had checked in India 5/6 years ago, I was told that I have PCOS. Iam 28 now. Since I did not get preg on clomid, my gynac wants to do all these bloodworks now and check for any pcos possibilities with a sonogram.

She said that if I have elevated insulin, she will put me on Merformin along with clomid. I am feeling so sad today. I am sick of all these hormonal tablets. She siad Metformin sometimes have side effects like bloating, fullness of stomach etc.

I would like to know from all you ladies, when clomid does not work does combination of clomid and metformin work well. Can I take Metformin even if my insulin levels are normal? How many months does one need to take metformin? I have taken clomid for 4 months now, how many more months can I take it?

Please guide me. Iam so confused and need some answers.

Thanks.
Ruhi.

PCOS not detecting in last two years but having detected for 5-6 years before suggest you are likely to have PCOS, don't get upset because of this condition. Its good to know something that remain unaware and face trouble.

I am not sure why were you put on clomid in last 4 cycles if you jsut began ttc in last five months. One must fail to conceive a year and have spouse bearing healthy and abundant sperms to fertilize egge before putting you on ovulation inducer like clomid.

I think the work you are going to have should have been done well before clomid. But good side is you can stop clomid until you know the whole blood work and also pelvic ultrasound status.

also get your spouse semen analysis done.

you can't take metformin with normal insulin levels. If required you will not only have to take medicine while ttc but also later stages as you will run a risk of GD.

We have been married for the last 12 years. We are trying for a baby but unfortunately every time it's disappointing. I had 3 abortion, 2 Ectopic pregnancy, 1 IUI failure and 2 IVF failures. I had septum in the uterus and got removed. Since I had a history of ectopic pregnancies, both my fallopian tubes are tied. Due to the poor ovarian reserve ... - Malini [View Message]
