Feeding:How to get 17mth old to eat indian food!...HELP!!

My baby is 17mths old & is still refusing to take indian food. He is a very fussy eater & there are days he goes completely w/o food. If im lucky i can get him to drink abt 6oz of milk for the whole day! I am very worried as till now i have to keep buying jars & jars of gerber food & even that goes waste as he doesnt like it. Food time has become a major battle at my house & till sometime bk we wud have to distract him with all sorts of thgs to get him to eat, now even that doesnt wrk! He pushes the spoon away. if i let him eat by himself he will play with it & throw it on the ground & not eat anythg. I am at the end of my rope as i plan on going bk to wrk & i am afraid once he starts dc he will not eat anythg the whole day! He hates the very sight of a spoon coming towards him. Please give me some suggestions as to:
1. How to get him to eat indian food.
2. Food that he himself will be able to pick & eat & not have me try to feed him (as he refuses anythg that comes from me these days)
Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!! I am feeling so helpless rt now. Thanks in advance.

hi ! anu, i had the same trouble with my older one and now i am guessing i will land up like u once again when my son is this age. but my lil guy has just popped 4 teeth but i am sure your' s has a lot now so why don' t u try giving him a very soft not a lot ghee fried alu paratha with suggary yogurt. i did that with my daughter who like your son was stuck with gerber. but this time round i am adamant not to repeat my mistake. so keep giving my son suji kheer, rice kheer, halwa, then try dalai alone sweetened or with moong daal and khichdi. try out these. see now he should be eating. why don' t u try spacing his meals out. like 3 or 31/2 hr gap and try breaking his jar eating habit. all the best !
