Eating Problems:Pre-Schooler lunch recipes

Hi,

I need help from you experienced moms. I am in USA and my son goes to pre school(montessori) here. He is there for 5 days a week for full days and I need to provide him lunch. He has not learnt to eat by himself until now and it is becoming tough for me to pack lunch items. I would really appreciate if you could suggest some easy healthy recipes which kids love and that are easier to pick and eat for him. He eats some foods like pizza, mac & cheese, noodles etc by himself but that doesn't taste good cold. so I need something that I can make in morning and he can have around 11:30 - 12:00.

Hi,

I am on the same boat. My 30 months old son is a picky eater, and its really hard to pack lunch for him. What worked for him is packing different items in small servings. For example Stir fried vegetables like brocolli, carrots and Shrimp, which gives enough fiber and protein, along with a sweet bread roll, and some slices of deli turkey breast. Comes home 90% complete. Other ideas are what already mentioned like hungry jack pancakes, hamburger helper spegetti (all pastas), lasagna, french toast, hard boiled egg, mac and cheese etc.

Hi Vaishali,

I live in New jersey and my son is 3 year 4 months old and he also goes to Apple Montessori. I also have same problem. I give him for lunch Puri (from wheat flour) and Rotli ( break rotli in small pieces and put some oil in kadai and add rotli pieces with salt, sugar, turmeric powder and little red chilli powder. This one taste good even if it is cold also. Please let me know if you get more recipe for lunch.

Thank you,
Priti

Hi Vaishali,
I'm in the same boat as you. I pack Idlis, pancakes, Sandwitch, toasted bread, Pastas, Noodles, chapathi, Rotis, Poha etc

As u said i gets cold by the time he eats. I microwave the food at 8AM & they eat at 11:30 so if not cold it will be just suffeciently warm.
I also pack Garbanzo beans, fruits like apples strawberries, peaches, pineapples grapes, muffins, cheese slices & veggies like baby carrots, cucumbers & beans.
Though there will be left overs but he would have had atleast 70% of what I have sent.
Along with this I send him packed juices.

Inspite of soo many options I run out of ideas when I start packing. So please let me know if you of anything else.

Pasta is one of his favorite with mushrooms.

Hope this helps
Sandhya
