My husband thinks I mollycoddle my daughter too much, by finding fault with all schools, instead of toughening her up. I don't agree.I think competitive schools actually kill the learning zeal in young children. My kid is in UKG,and gets 2-3 pages of written homework everyday.I think it's criminal!Other parents at that school seem to find it normal, and praise this school for its results.I'm trying to change her school. What do u think?

Dear,

I suggest you a few ways to know why your son refuse to go to school.

1. check whether he had a new teacher who is not as loving as his old ones?

2.Visit his playhome once in everyweek and observe your kids actions, his behaviour from a distance and make sure that he is happy with other kids.

3. speak with his teacher and have a heart to heart talk with his teacher about him then come to a correct conclusion.

4. does he shouts with other kids, or is there any family problems with you and husband or with inlaws which affect your kid without your knowledge?

5.Make sure that he eats well and get enough nutrition for his age, is he hungry when he gets angry at school or is it he need more attention?

6.do he have jealousy towards any other child in his school.

Just relax and take the matter very light. I am sure your son will love to go once you give him enough encourgement and love at home.

Good luck

VJ

Dear Shilpa,
The same thing happened to my son when he joined playschool, he was happy enough initially but mid term he started throwing tantrums, the best thing is to get in touch with the teachers and get to the root of the matter and ask him if the teacher scolds him someone is bullying him or what? children at a young age have a tendency to exaggerate and the teachers if at fault try passing the blame. My child felt a little left out of the group and he was not selected for the school dance. I believe here the teachers made him feel a trifle inadequate and he was not able to comprehend it, best of luck but do keep an open line of communication with the teacher and child.
