hi there,
baby wght is good and not overwght,,, she is not affcted by your gd levels,,at least its not reflected in her wght !
she might be overfed,,or may be that formula might seem to be abit heavy for her,as until now she was on BM,,see if changg the brand(not type),,helps,,sometimes it helps, because of fat levels in all formulas are not samee !!so you might want to try the othr brand,,
for a healthy 5months old,,see if she takes approx or around about, as below :
http://www.indiaparenting.com/boards/showmessage.cgi?messageid=1096&table_name=dis_milestones
from the above posts,,avoid offerng the below or just introduce your baby the below foods and thn limit/restrict its servings per week instead of daily or every 2days,,,
1. sweet potato,cauliflower,potato, sweet melons(above 8months),
2. banana...offer with vit c fruits,or with boiled peach or pear.
3. ghee or cheese, butter in her diet, limit them,...
4. avoid offerng ne sweet foods until she is 1 year old..avoid salt as much as you can,,namesake is not a problem.
5. make sure her diet includes lot of fresh vegies and go low with fruits,,once she sstarts acceptng all the vegies and fruits,,,however, introduce all fruits, flavours and vegies and all foods,,but just restrict all the above foods i talked about.
for swmmng etc, i will recmnd you to start from 8-9months,,as by thn her solids will be regular,,swmng, playng in water increases false apetite and it might trigger high intakes which mght lead to obesity, esp if the baby is not cruisng yet,,so once she starts cruising, if you do that,,it will help her physically !
other things, take care about her intakes.
she is throwng milk aftr feeds,,try offerng smaller feeds per serving and see if that helps,
make sure her bottle nipple size is as per her age,,not too fast...
keep her elevated for around 25-30min just after the feeds and see if that helps.
if still the reflux continues,,talk to your dr about it,,may be she needs a soy formula ! sometimes some kids throw reflux at milk based formula and later they outgrow them,,,may b your child needs one,,ask your dr about it.
as far as he is gaining wght,,a lil reflux is acceptable.no problems..try offerng a bit lukewarm formula thn the warmer formula,,sometimes cool(lukewarm, but not cold or regular temp water) temp formula settles better thn the warm temp ones...and you dont have to work that hard to wwarm it...
good luck,,lemme know if nething confuses in this,,
take care.
