Thanks for your reply and suggestions..My baby was born on 1st oct 2006 at 7 pounds and 7 ounces and he is now 14 pounds and 11 ounces..
Actually we have been still not been able to figure out the rashes..i have stopped giving him BM and even followed a very strict diet when I was feeding him..but nothing would help ..he still getsthem at times..i guess they r heat rashes..now i m feeding him only formula( lactose free )with rice cereal for one month as per doc's advice..
Thanks once again for ur advice . It really helps..:)
Hetal replied. at first, dr is the right person to decide whthr or not your child needs solid intakes...
the second child itself decides that his is not ready,,when you offer, he takes it well, and knows it well to swallow, churn the food inside his mouth.
not all babies need to wait until 6mnths,,and not all babies are actually required to be started from 3-4thmonths onwards...
since your baby is allergic/rashes with BM, its quite possble that whn it comees to solids,,your child will show much more sensitivt,,mostly because he comes in category of mild allergic/food allergy..and you dont know what nutrient in BM has caused this rashes...it could be BM in itself or it could be some diet/food that you might have taken and it has caused the rashes,,,all blaming BM !
let me give you some eg,,my dd was sensitive to mango,,whenver i had mangoes after delivery,,she used to have pimple like rashes all overr her face, back ! basically they were prickly heat rashes,,and whenver she took mango alone, until 1year, she had them on and off!!! she was out of it, aftr 1 year !!!
its diff issue that this exp cant rule out the pssbilt that the case might be same with your baby,,but it could have happen ! unless you started yourself one food, per 2-3days and watch your baby responses and still after all foods,,he didnt have rashes,,but was havng rashes right from day 1 of your BM feeds, irrespective of your diet...
so it varies..
as far moong dal is concerned,,i would rather suggest you to offer WHOLE moong water instead of moong DAL water...only reason,,he is 3months only ! the second is,,he is showng rashes to a particular nutrient, which is right now unknown ! so go by the non-allergic foods first,,and by the time your baby graduates,,say above 8months to 1 year,,,start him on all the foods to test whther or not he is sensitive to it...only if you want his things to go smooth, without havng a single rash again !!!!
but his age being 3months only,,i strongly recmd you to wait for 1 more month, continue with formula until thn,and check his signs of readiness for solids...
i understand that your dr has recmnded it but let me know his birth and current wghts,,i want you to check them on weekly basis and its only thn i want you to start solids...only because he has shown sensitivt to a particular food,,its better that he is started on solids,,later the better ! thats my theory,,and i will do that to my baby,,,if this situation occurs...
since your dr has suggested and your situation is more inclined towards offrng solids,,,rice cereal yes, is non-allergic,,you can start that,,make sure to offer whole moong water as a first introduction of solid food and thn rice cereal,, so that his bowels are normal and whenever you introduce solids,,,,try offerng the new foods in first part of days,,so that ne instant reaction/severe reaction(esp with those babies with rashes and allergy issues),, can be taken care of before the night nd you have time to call your doctor or lemee say take an immediate action.....and the other practical reason is child will be active thru out the day,,givng him more time to digest solids,,and deal with ne stomach upset etc,,due to activity level...
the best time is the morning times/breakfast time...
consider, per week calcultn, thn the age of the baby,,as your dr has already givn you a green signal for solids...
good luck
