the vegetables that contain very negligible amts of nicotine are potatoes, tomatoes, eggplant and red peppers...thats how its not advisable for babies below 1 year,,
however, the variety also matter,,often the tomatoes , potatoes when grown organically,,does not contain nicotine and if its specific brand..
mostly eggplant,,the highest is the amt of nicotine among all of the above,,,its the seeds that contain the high amts,,
so if you are offering it to your child,,its advisable to offer as late as possble,,or offer it without seeds(tomatoes that we start from 7-8months onwards), potatoes(offer the fresh produce and make sure its not grown or has not become soft,,go for smaller ones and the red varieties),,or brinjal after 1 year( remove seeds and give,,) and when it comes to buying the variety of brinjal,,look for the chinese eggplant//the one which is long and pure purple in colour,,often has least seeds.also cooking is easier for these.make sure to get fresh produce and dont keep the cut portion of all of these vegetables in fridge...either use them in one piece or throw the rest,,if half portion is left is bigger, thn rather cut it to small piece and freeze it in ziplock or some good freezng bag !
make sure to wipe all of the above vegetables with damp cloth instead of washing them with water...wipe with gentle but firm hand.
so, limit eggplants and above vegies,, in your diet, if you are bf !
kids sufferng from eczema, reflux, arthritis,or liver problems should avoid these nightshade family of vegetables ! and its quite understood why babies or ne one who consumes the above vegetable loves to eat them !! nicotine !!!
hope this suffcs,,
good luck
