Hi hetal,
I am a working woman, and, am sleep deprived, with my baby feeding on me every 1 hr in the night !
My baby just turned 7 months old, and, I had started giving her cerelac from 6th month, and rice from last month. She has 1 feed of dal/rice, one feed of cerelac, and one feed of fruit/juice.
This is her diet
11 in the morning - rice with dal and carrot, all mashed together (can't specify quantity. give her till she refuses to have)
1 PM - formula 3-4 oz
3 PM - fruit juice (1 mosambi), or, boiled apple (half an apple)
6 PM - formula 3 oz
8 PM - cerelac (4 scoops mixed with a banana)
From then, till 9 in the morning, she used to have breast milk (Every 2 hrs, sometimes even more frequent)
But for past couple of weeks, she feeds throughout the night, is very restless while sleeping, keeps rolling over the bed.. So, the only way to calm her for some time seems to be feeding.. She is now having milk every one hour!
How should I make her stop having milk so often in the night? Her sleep timing have also changed.. she is now sleeping 12 in the night till 9 in the morning..
Otherwise, her weight and all look okay, and she is quite active.. she weighs 7.6 kgs (3.1 kg was her birthweight).

SP replied. My son is 7.5 months old and has been sleeping through the night since his 3rd month, and was feeding just once around 3AM. but suddenly since the past 15 days.. he is taking 3 or more feeds in the night!
i feed him 3 solid feeds(breakfast, lunch and dinner). Breakfast is usually Dosa, Idli,Upma, Pongal cooked to his needs. Lunch and dinner are rice dal and veggies. He refuses to eat any cerelac or baby foods.the rest of the time its BM.
Should i give him more solids? His weight gain is good. and he is doing well other wise.
Shalini replied. I hv similar situation like urs. Baby is 6m and the diet also seems similar, and my prob is baby wakes 1/2/3 times at night.
i think i dont produce enough milk now (demand decreased so supply decreased), i m a working person too.
So i give her formula around 9 pm. We go to sleep around 10-1030 pm, While sleeping i give baby BM.
When baby wakes up at night, i let her suckle in bed itself (donno if she drinks, i m just too sleepy), baby also sleeps and i too sleep. Around 5-530 am, i offer her formula in bottle again, after which she continues to sleep till 7-ish and then i offer her BM. Second feed of bm i give her at 9 am.
U r right, its too tiresome to cater to baby at nights after the day's work.
I donno abt u, but my baby finds it boring to keep suckling till full (as bottle is faster than breast). I shall offer her as much as possible, till she is 1+ yrs.
I hv found that a proper baby routine puts baby to sleep all night given she is wearing a diaper at night. So, in short, before going to sleep the baby is full, is tired (plays with elder sis from 9 pm to 10pm), i offer her massage sometimes before sleep and place my inner clothing around her face in her crib, the food she has had does not produce gas...
so when everything is perfct for baby, she sleeps all night.
Just that probably i m not able to be a perfect mom :-( and dont get time to give massage/give timely meals/make my inner clothes ready to keep around baby/manage things with elder kid and office.
sigh. So what i want to say is
1) probably ur baby is hungry so waking up grequently
2) if that were the case, why does my baby wake up? So in a way, i am also waiting for an answer to ur q.
or may be .. i m confused :)
lets wait for hetal's reply
