every time i make apple puree and give it to my son( 7 months old) he starts to cough.. is he allergic? can i give him papaya? he has a big tendency to cold, cough and wheeze. what are the fruits that i can give him sd replied. Hi SP

First check with ur doc about his cough.

But I don't think apple can create allergy... maybe there is something ur adding in the puree that maybe allergic to him....

- Try cooking it a different way ..like just boil it and add a lil sugar and pinch of salt...

- Maybe if the puree has brown suger/jaggery then that will make him cough.... they say brown sugar/jaggery do create cough in some babies....

- or if ur buying it readymade... then avoid buying it....try giving him homemade without brown sugar/jaggery.. and just a lil sugar...

- Plz do just check with ur doc to be on the safer side.

- U can give papaya... it is very good... for the baby's stomach.. and helps food to digest well and also help him pass motion well....

- Maybe u can mix the apple with banana instead of sugar... first cook apple and make a puree and then mash banana and mix it well with the apple and feed it to ur baby.... he/she will love it..... My son loved it when I used to give him when he was 6 months... now he is 2 and a half years and he still loves apples and banana... but now I cut it into pieces and feed him.... he loves it.

- Try to avoid giving him too much of added flavour like sugar, brown sugar, jaggery etc... and give him sugar from natural fruits like dates, banana etc.... Maybe this will help....
