Feeding:Skin problem - please help

I have twins boy/girl. Here is the skin care for them. We have been giving them bath twice a day, a head bath in the morng and regular bath at night. Use moong dal powder(sunni pindi) mixed with oatmeal pdr for the bath. In the morng massage with almond oil and in night use malai just while bathing. I use aveeno baby moisturiser all over. From the last 10 days I notice a red colored dry patches of skin on my baby girls tummy , back etc. When this started there was no change in food etc. The weather here is very cold now, below 50s. We started her on solids - rice cereal, banana from last 1 week. The red patches have spread across now and have become even more severe. When contacted the dr. she said she thinks it is eczema and to start bathing her only 2/3 times a week and also apply eucerin/vaseline.
I tried vaseline didnt help, trying eucerin original cream now. I still apply aveeno all over and eucerin only on spots. bathing now only once in morng daily. Not sure if there is anything else I can do to help this condition but it is getting worse. please suggest on what this condition could be and what I can do.

hi, my son had same problem.
this is what i did during last winter and now his skin is normal.
--before bath, a light massage with very little baby oil.
-- bath with baby dove or plain dove. it has enough moisture, no need to apply extra moisturizers.
-- after short bath, apply any good cold cream. i used to apply eucerin dry and sensitive skin.after dove bath skin is so soft you will not need to put extra layers of cream.
-- my ped told me to bathe my baby twice in one day. one with dove and the other was plain bath with water only.it keeps skin clean so recovery is fast. after plain water bath, apply very little cream.
for my baby eczema, aquaphor did not work. it made the rashes worst.when my baby had diaper rash, at that time aquaphor worked.
so i think all creams don't work for all types of rashes or skin.please ask your ped about dis.
my ped adviced me to use baby dove. i did not find that soap so i used ordinary dove and it worked.

Hi Tanu - My son( now 7 months) has the same problem, it started when he was about 4 months. You wont believe how painful it is to watch them scratch and not be able to help. Some days he cries so hard since I hold his hands and dont let him scratch, I hope your kids dont have to go through that.

Here is some of the things that has helped a little.
1) Do not reduce the number of baths. Water is moisture and it helps. But be careful that the water is not too hot otherwise it will take away the natural moisture from the skin. Bathe them couple of times a day, does not have to be a big bath ritual, but just a quick wash
2) While the skin is damp apply tons of moisturizer. I have tried all the products available, the only thing that helped were aquaphor and \" epaderm\" (i order this from UK)
3) No soaps at all in the bath, epaderm can be used as a bath emmolient, so I do that
4) Moisturize, moisturize and moisturize. Cut their nails
5) Eucerin probably burns, I am not sure, but my son cries every time I try to apply that, so be careful.
6) I also noticed that you apply some of the other things, it is best to wait until they are a year old so their skin gets adjusted,...just my opinion.
