My daughter is going to be 5 months old in a weeks time. Her schedule is

6.30am = 3 oz formula

8.30am = plain rice cereal 3 tsp in 1 oz formula and rest water till semisolid consistancy

11 am = 3 oz formula

1.30 pm = 1/4 apple pureed mixed with 1tsp cereal

3.30 pm = 3 oz formula

5.30 pm =khichadi 2tsp moong dal+1 tsp rice cooked and pureed

8 pm = 3 oz formula then she sleeps

in the night she gets up 2 times for milk.Once around 1.30 am and then at 3.30 am.

Now my questions are
1. She loves to eat apple with cereal.If I want include apple in the breakfast cereal instead of formula what can i give her for lunch?
and how much of apple can i give her at one time?

2. if i want to introduce veggies in khichadi which one shd i start with??

3. how shd i increase the qtity of the servings.

Her birth wt was 2.9 kgs. Now at the age of 4 1/2 months she is 7.35 kgs.

introduce your baby one more fruit and vegetable,,,this will help you get good options(after 15days)..
all after 15days :
with rice cereal, prefer giving pears or ripe mashed banana or combo of it...apple is high in iron,,with rice cereal(which is often iron fortified,,it would be like giving a double dose of iron ! ),,

offer her khichdi with vegetables,,start with carrot.

also start with whole moong water,,and offer it at late evening time,,it will prevent your baby to give ne constipation probs.

other vegies and fruits to start with are given as below,,please go thru it,..also gerber dot com gives great ideas on healthy start up ! go thru it and plan your child diet from nowitself to 9months,,to give him an easy transtn without ne problems..

go slow 1 vegie or 1 fruit per week,as you have enough time,,she is not even 5months,so take your time !!
and always respect her acceptance,,try after sometimes if she seems to be uncomfortable...introduce fibr diet first of all the foods and thn the foods that might cause stomach probs,,so that your baby readily accepts the heavy food,,,

with bw 2.9kgs,at 4.5months,,7.35kgs is good ! keep it up !!!

since she is 4.5months,, please wait for another 15days to complete and then start her on other fruits and vegies,,,right now for next 15 days, you can introduce your baby moong water,,or wholemoong with rice,,,until then !!

this week go by moong water, and thn offer raagi soup...
